1982nodak's Journal, 24 April 2019

I told my husband I would try not to gain more than 1 pound over Easter and I did just that. I gained just under a pound. I make crescents from scratch, and all of our favorites and I had satisfying portions of all. But all of the deviled eggs, cocktails, do add up. Today is my first day back to reality.

I had steal cut oatmeal for Breakfast with blueberries. For lunch I'm having my favorite Salmon/Feta/Spinach salad. We still have left overs from hosting Easter so left overs are on the menu for the day. However, I am back to walking so there you have it. My big big but not completely unrealistic goal is go get down to 199 by June 1st. It will take hard work and dedication. I really want that. That is 5.5 weeks to lose 16 pounds. That is about 2.9 pounds per week.

I know it is crazy. I know it, but I really really want it. With hard work and dedication maybe, just maybe I can get there. The big thing is I have a dress I bought for a wedding three years ago at 205 and it was a bit tight, but I had just had a baby and thought I would lose it, but instead my thyroid was off and I gained and then I was pregnant and now I'm here. I want to wear it to a wedding on June 22nd and while I can squeeze in at 205 I would rather look fabulous and be more like 190/195. So really I want to fit in that Dress by June 22nd, and that will take a great amount of effort and I need to start now because that is 2.84 pounds per week to get to the 190.
215.0 lb Lost so far: 18.0 lb.    Still to go: 75.0 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

Okay, let’s break this down – as I see you have already started to do! If you need to lose 2.9 pounds per week and 3,500 calories equals one pound, that means you need to have a deficit of 10,150 calories per week. In other words, the calories you take IN has to be 10,150 less than the calories you are burning through just being alive and through exercise. What is your current activity level? (I know that when I was over 200, I had little to NO energy or desire to do much of anything – thankfully, not everyone is like me.” On my Daily Accountability 2019-#16 Challenge Forum, I have lists of ALL of the FatSecret exercises and activities divided by “light,” “moderate” and “strenuous.” You can find them here: https://www.fatsecret.com/challenges/daily-accountability-2019-16/Forum.aspx?pg=1. Once you get there, you’ll have to click “Next” at the bottom because they are on Page #2 of the Challenge Forum posts. Have you bee recording ALL activity into your Exercise Log? I’d start there, to see how many calories you are CURRENTLY burning per day. Unless you are actually RESTING, you need to enter something for every waking hour of the day (because otherwise, you’ll only “earn” the Resting rate). You burn more calories by ANYTHING else (other than sleeping). The numbers listed per hour for each activity are based on MY weight at the time I made the charts. For you, you’ll burn MORE calories per exercise than I will. Normally, all of my activities are in the “light” category – studying, standing, driving, grocery shopping, etc. The other day, I purposed to find something on the “Moderate” or “Strenuous” list, and to do it for ONE minute! I picked trampolining, because we got a trampoline for the grandkids for Christmas, and it is right smack dab in the middle of my own front yard! One minute – actually JUMPING on the trampoline. Granted, I was only jumping about 1-2” above the surface, but I was jumping! Previously, I could only bounce, but wouldn’t actually leave the mat. SO, that’s my two cents worth. You already know where you ARE, and you know where you’re GOING – all you have to do is figure out exactly how to get there. If you’d like a supportive environment in which to work on your goal, I’d encourage you to consider joining the Daily Accountability 2019-#17 challenge, which starts on Monday. You can find the challenge by going here and then clicking on “Join this Challenge”: https://www.fatsecret.com/challenges/daily-accountability-2019-17/Home.aspx. Best of success on your journey to rockin’ that wedding dress!
