1200 cal. is about what a 110 lbs person burns per day with bed rest.
1200 cal. is about 900 calories less than what I burn at 195 lbs at rest.
Nine months of having 900 calories less than I burn will make about 70 lbs of weight loss.
193.0 lb Lost so far: 10.0 lb.    Still to go: 63.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Yes, technically. But other factors can play in to weight loss too. It's best to find a plan that you can do for a long time and still enjoy your life. Learning healthy eating habits and exercise is what will help you keep it off after you get to goal. If 1200 is too restrictive for you and makes you quit, then it might be better to eat 1500 a day and enjoy your life more. It's all about finding the best balance for you.
