I'm hoping the low gi diet will help me to avoid the diabetes that runs in my family. I'm also looking forward to reducing my cravings for unhealthy carbs. I'm really looking for balance. A way to have my cake and eat it too, without raising my blood sugar too high. I have heard that if you eat dessert with your meal it will not raise your sugar the way it would if you ate it on an empty stomach. That goes for alcohol as well. Just be sure to trade your small serving of rice or potato with the dessert or drink. I will have to experiment with that. Of course it is not recommended you do that every night. The main idea is to keep the blood sugar level.
