Yes. I needed to see this today. I was recently with a friend who is struggling with her weight. Lately, she has been logging her food and realized that she eats a lot more than she thought. By logging her food she has faced reality and has seen a 3 lb. loss. She is just getting started but I think it is valuable that she now knows the truth about her food intake. That made a big difference for me too.

She said that she had come to the realization that she cannot control 99% of her life, but she can control what she eats and therefore can control her weight. This is a monumental statement.

When everything else is out of control, it is empowering to know I still have control of my weight. On occasions when I start to eat poorly, I literally feel panic. I think it's less a fear of gaining weight or failing, and more a fear of losing a battle that I have the power to win. I am alone in this challenge and can't blame anyone else for my mistakes. I can also take all the credit for my success.

So this week was a win. I continue to try and live a few pounds below my goal. The journey continues. Have a good week!
