So, they found these identical twins that diverged in their physical activity for thirty years and they did all sorts of tests on them. I found the results interesting. There were significant differences in a bunch of health markers. The "trained" twin did a great deal of endurance exercise. Interestingly, the "untrained" twin performed better in some of the muscle strength stuff while generally having poorer health marker performance. As expected, the "trained" twin got to eat a lot more food while being skinnier.

Nice article --- quoting it "The variables with the largest differences between twins (i.e., > 24%) were TRIG, LDL, WEEE, body composi-tion, VO2max, grip strength, and leg strength; all of which are independent and significant predictors of mortality" Hey Officially39 I have great leg strenth, now I just have to work on the other significant predictors over the next 30 years, LOL.

You crack me up Ches. I had no idea about leg strength being a mortality predictor! I was feeling all vindicated in my ongoing quest to at least be able to do a body weight squat. And grip strength. I thought wanting to be able to open jars consistently was just a quality of life thing. Now, getting the jar of pickles open by myself has taken on new meaning.

10 years back, I could do 3 sets of 8 reps on the leg press machine with 400 pounds on it. Now if I bend down too far, I may have to press the imaginary life alert button on my chest for assistance. My leg are still pretty strong and toned but my joints feel achy. Oh well, we push on.
