Well, two weeks and no weight loss. I am still bloated, so I will chalk it up to that or to my hypothyroid body which fights every ounce, and, of course, my age, 70. However, I can actually see the weight loss now, a nice demarcated waistline, a thinner face, looser clothes. That is what I will have to go by so as not to cry. 23 lbs isn't bad since April 20th but all of the loss was that first month, or maybe even less. A very nice member was giving me suggestions for my cruise in late April. I thank you all for your suggestions, but fortunately, for me, cruising has never been about eating. I LOVE to eat. This is true, but I am always cognizant of what goes in my mouth. Maybe if I had a tremendous loss before the trip I would binge a bit, but not this way. I am going to drink wine, once a day , mixed with a diet soda. I will taste my husband's desserts, but I love fruit, so I have no problem having strawberries for dessert. I will allow dessert once if there is really something I have never had before, or haven't had in years. Since this is a luxury cruise line with Canyon Ranch choices, I am sure I can get a dish of sugar free ice cream. I have done that on a previous cruise. I do not do badly on cruises because the excursions involve so much walking that my exercise level goes up. I will keep an eye on things and hope to hold my own because I react so quickly to high sodium in foods and additives. That is strange since I have never had any problems with my blood pressure except for it being too low sometimes. So thanks to all who respond. I do read everything and appreciate your suggestions. It helps to have supporters.

if you are bloated it may not be the salt it may be a sensitivity to some of the food you are eating. It happens. Some people bloat up with refined flours or cheese it is pretty common. You don't log and saw that you are on a point system so I assume WW. I think that is a diet that has a lot of variety.

Baskington, thank you for your comment.Yes, I am aware that I am sensitive to certain foods. I love cheese, but I have been avoiding it for the very reason you mention. I react to too many tomatoes as well, and I love them. I do log my food but on the weight watchers site. I know what I eat and when that way. This is just par for the course when I observe my weight loss history on all diets. I read about your approach to weight loss. It is very sensible. No one can eat whatever they want of certain food groups forever and expect weight loss to follow. Even on Weight Watchers, which allows unlimited foods in some areas, I calculate the portion and only eat more if I am starving, which is not often. I just try to make the best choices. I know if I cut out carbs, except non starchy vegetables, and followed WW, I would lose faster. However, dieting is hard enough and being able to have even a bowl of puffed wheat with blueberries and skim milk in the morning is something I like. Again, thank you for your insights.

No problem, everyone has a diet and life plan that works for them. I would not suggest you do otherwise, but I would suggest you get stricter on cutting out those foods that you know cause issues. I firmly believe those foods cause weight loss to stall. If the body is fighting the response to a food it does not want in it, it slows the process in my mind. And some foods help your thyroid ,which I am sure you already know the ones that cause it issues and which are helpful. when you do all you can to make the body happy it will reward you. is it a pain, yes, but you will also feel better.

Thanks. I am being super careful. You are right, I am aware of goitergenic foods. There are other things I read recently, like not taking your meds with coffee. Damn. That is my favorite time.
