I would have liked more but given that despite staying at or under my points, I was eating saltier more caloric food. I usually limit myself to beef once or at most twice a week. It was almost every day in some form, including low fat hot dogs. So given that I was entertaining, did not cheat, but ate differently, I am glad I lost some weight.
I am still motivated and know I am in for the long haul There is no end to this "diet" because how can it be a diet if there is nothing that is taboo, just things worth too many points to be worth it? My husband often asks me, when I turn down wine or something else, if it isn't on my diet. I explain that I can eat what I want, but I must count it. Some things are just not worth the points. Or if I am planning a starchy high point meal at night, I can't spend the points earlier in the day. The trick will be my cruise the end of September. The last time I was on an ocean cruise, I stayed on my diet- Atkins then- and lost weight, though not much. When I went on a river cruise two years ago, I was not as careful, but with all of the walking and touring, did not gain any weight. This time I am on WW. Usually fancy restaurants serve small portions, so that isn't bad, but when you are not eating your own food, it is always tricky. I am glad fruit is okay since I love strawberries, blueberries, pineapples etc. Usually, when I eat out with my husband, I skip dessert but taste his. He had better let me do that. I don't want the temptation of a dessert on my plate. If I were at my goal, I would calculate a dessert here and there. But with so much more to lose, I really can't throw it all away on one ten day cruise. It just wouldn't be worth it. I will avail myself of plenty of lobster and other fish and avoid pork and most beef. AND I will drink spritzers.

I went on a 7 day cruise and allowed myself to indulge. I took the stairs everywhere - regardless of what deck I was on or headed to. I used portion control at the buffet, but I definitely went all out in the dining room. I figured I don't get to cruise often, and I know how to work the program, so I splurged on my vacation and got back to business when I got home. I gained 2 pounds on the cruise and 4 overall on my vacation. They are all gone now. Allow yourself to enjoy a little when you go on your cruise. You are only throwing it all away if you don't go back on plan.

Bethlauren8, thank you very much for the suggestions. I am not sure of your age, and I believe that what you say works for 90 percent of people going on cruises if they don't overdrink and include lots of exercise. However, at age 70 and hypothyroid, one who looks at food and gains weight, I know I can never go all out at even one meal. I know I will be over on some days but the exercise will make up for it. My sister, 8 years younger, does what you do and it works. I am glad you were able to enjoy the food. I just tell myself that I am a fantastic cook and could make these meals if I wanted, but I am trying desperately to make food not be so important in my life. I didn't choose the cruise for the food, but for what I will see. I have to keep telling that to myself. I will probably choose one night to get something I might not otherwise eat, and even have dessert, but I must limit to one night.

Beth, last year while on a 2 week cruise a friend told me go eat and enjoy yourself. I did exactly that and I did just that. I ate everything I wanted, no point counting ! We walked so much and actually I was afraid to get on the scales when I got home , I held my breath and when they told me I was only up 2lbs I almost fainted. I ate a lot of steak, lobster salads , and Deserts usually more then one. I would give you the same advice I was given, go, eat, and enjoy! PS , We had room service for breakfast, so I was not tempted by a breakfast buffet, that helped I'm sure. Also we could get dressed during breakfast, no rushing to get ready.
