43.7% I'm relieved to see my bfp go down, even if it means my weight went up a little. Must just be water or a fluke of the scale. Yesterday was a bad day. Really busy at work, not paying attention to food, severe hypoglycemia. Managed to go to sleep though-- the worst hypoglycemia is the kind that keeps you up all night. In spite of my complaints about yesterday, overall I am doing quite well. This week's Born to be wild challenge to make a new commitment to give oneself that extra push has got me signed up for three mini-commitments:

1) drink an extra glass of water
2) exercise at least 6 days a week
3) do what exercise guru tamilee webb calls "buttabus", ie squeeze your ab and rear muscles throughout the day.

I've been doing all three religiously, but because buttabus doesn't seem quite enough for me, and because I am inspired by the commitment of other members to their abs :), I am also trying other ab exercises. I found this prevention magazine booklet I thought I'd lost or given away and I am delighted because it is full of ab workouts I haven't tried along with other tips for flattening one's belly. When I look in the mirror sideways I don't like how my belly sticks out, but if I tighten my ab muscles, it looks great. So I'm hoping that tightening exercises will keep it a little flatter all the time, although I know I can't just suck in my breath all the time. :) Also planning to check out the book Tone your Tummy Type by Denise Austin from the library, will let you know if it is any good.

I got The Cortisol Connection Diet from the library. I thought I was reading The Cortisol Connection but realized a couple chapters in that what I am reading is a later dumbed down/mini/diet focused version. I would have chosen the longer version had I known, but I suppose this will be okay. Anyway, interesting so far. It certainly explains an awful lot about the problems I had that led me to gain all this weight. I feel relieved to have a better understanding (as in "I'm not crazy afterall") even though I don't really need it for my weight loss right now. I'm interested in the supplements he recommends to counteract cortisol (didn't get that far yet, but I'm peeking ahead); has anyone tried these? any luck with them?
195.6 lb Lost so far: 11.4 lb.    Still to go: 65.6 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

I do take the CLA 1000mg 2-3 times a day with my other supplements. I'm not sure that I'd say it's a for sure thing, I certainly wouldn't discount it, either. I'm pretty sure that it is one recommended in that book, no? I haven't read it. I have a book that I highly recommend called the Metabolic Syndrome Program, by Karlene Karst. She covers everything from weight to other medical issues along with the supplements that can help with them. It's very easy to read and very informational. It may help you with what supplements to take! :) I take many supplements from her recommendation, and then some added from my doc and naturopath as well. Feel free to email me with questions. :)
