Any of y’all do keto part-time? I count calories all the time, even on cheat days (it keeps me from going totally crazy), but I was thinking about doing keto 4 days a week, strict counting calories 2, & one day “off.” Any thoughts? Anyone done this with success?

Keto would be 4 in a row

Do whatever you feel like doing, mix it up, enjoy eating whatever. Smart to track calories on your “cheat days” many don’t and just eat tons, which is one very common reason people end up not losing weight in the first place. But go ahead and have whatever on whatever days of the week you want. As long as you keep your calories the same, however you decide to rearrange your diet won’t matter 👍🏻

As long as you are in a reasonable calorie deficit you will lose fat. It really doesn't matter what you eat as long as you eat less. I'd recommend 200-400 calories, 5 times a day. Also, resistance training 2-3 times a week will help build muscle as you lose fat and increase your metabolism. Good luck on your journey (:

Yes it's true that in the end calories are what counts, but Keto does prevent hunger, and that counts too.

Keto isn't for everyone. A high fat diet would make me feel terrible. Doesn't matter if I'm not hungry, if I don't feel good. Balance and moderation are habits that can last a lifetime.

I think you can "do" keto any time, but my understanding is that the process of losing while being in ketosis doesn't work if you don't do it full time. It is the total calories that count. I have never tried it myself.

I have done both. Keto puts you in burning fat for enrgy and calories puts you in burning carbs for fuel. Since it takes a couple of days to get into full ketosis, it is not effective to go on keto periodically as you suggest. It really is a whole different process. Go to Youtube and search for “Butter Makes My Pants Fall Off” for a good explanation. It is most effective for people who have sugar issues, sugar addiction, diabetic, etc.

You can mimic a ketogenic diet part-time but you won't be in ketosis, which is the point of, "doing keto". You can also claim you're a Wizard like Gandalf, but that don't make you one.

you can go keto by fasting (water and unsweetened coffee/tea) for about 36 to 40 hours. for me personally any diet based on restrictions will not work in the long run as i try and reintroduce these foods later I rarely get it right. I have been doing 48hr fasting once a week, with a big focus on getting my nutrients in on the remaining 5 days. I have found I cannot stomach overly rich or carb high foods and so naturally have reduced these. I don't feel restricted in any way and have lost about 40lb this way (I am 10lb away from being at professional athlete level of body fat so has taken me from close to obese to the lowest body fat I have ever been). fasting is not easy, but I prefer 2 hard days (not as hard as you would think) to 6 or 7 days constantly hungry.
