well had to stop atkins again.. i dont know if its cause the past couple weeks that i havent reached my max carbs but something is wrong.. i have the worst gas pains ever.. i have this air pocket on my right hip let me tell you... i was in bed for 3 days.. and i'm starting to feel a lil better now but kinda scared dont know if i can go through all that pain again.. i've been drinking pepto, gas x, ginger ale,saltine crackers.. umm everything and i still cant get rid of it all help somebody

Apple Juice is great for gas pains. It always works for me. Also, if you are scared to go back on...the SBD is wonderful. I have tried many diets before and the SB is the one I can imagine living on for the rest of my life. Week 1 on SB and I am already down 7 lbs...can't beat that. Hey Joanne, I hope you're feeling better. I agree with the comment the previous person left; South Beach might work better for you. If you feel Atkins isn't working for you, don't feel discouraged about trying something else. The most important thing is finding a program that's healthy and that works for YOU. I would personally recommend making sure any diet you choose elements all refine sugars, most starches (100% whole grain is OK), read meat, margarine, and butter. Try to incorporate vegetables, some fruits, poultry, fish, and olive oil into your diet. I also HIGHLY recommend aerobic excerise for at least 5 days a week for 40 minutes. If you do this, I still believe you'll be way ahead of the curve in terms of being healthy and losing weight. Once you reach your weight loss goal, you can then maybe have an off day when you can and have any food or desert you want. But at the point, you have to really have the mindset to return to eating right again or else the weight will all come back. Believe me, I know all about that from experience! LOL :D

Hi Joanne, So sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well. Take it easy on your body. Some of the popular fad diets are too much of a shock to your system. I've had some interesting experiences on Atkins and realized it just wasn't for me. I created a diet that is about portion control and making a lifestyle change. I'm trying...day 1 for me. Hey Joanne, My name is Mandie and I just started this site. I read your post on the severe side pains and I can tell you from experience that the side pains and gas pains comes from too much of the Atkins candy. I ended up in the er because of the candie. I found that I could only have two peices of the Atkins candy a day and only one serving of the Atkins icecream per day. Goodluck Girl!
