Man it's so frustrating - I have completely changed how I eat, what I drink & have added exercise to my life at LEAST 3 days a week and Now after my first week of a massive 4kgs loss I seem to constantly be gaining weight.

Today it says im 102.8 - seriously??

Aside from 1 day a week where im slightly more laxed (because come on I need 1 days to not drill Sargent myself i have stuck to exactly what I have logged in my food diary

I had a low fat smoothie every day last week for breakfast and a salad 3 days for lunch, and yet i have gained?

Im not going to break my diet or exercise because of the gain, at the end of the day im still trying to change my life style and lose weight to be healthier, but come on body, help me out a little here.

No wonder people stay big or unhealthy for so long, because the times they try to throw their all into it and get zero back in return it just seems easier to give up and continue the size I was & at least go back to enjoying bad for but yummy tasting food.

Ok rant over, back to work & my veterinarian low fat lunch.

PS - not logging official weight until tomorrow when I use the scale at the gym

Hang in there, our bodies take time to adjust to change, check how much hidden sugar, dairy etc is in your smoothies too, I follow the Fast Diet, once you free your mind from the food battle the rest will follow. I wish I had kept up at least one fast day a week to maintain where I was at, but now I'm back into it properly again it's so easy.

I get this too. It will plateau for a bit and nothing will seem to fix it, then hey presto it jumps down. I think the most important thing is to keep on keeping on.

You're still losing nearly 1kg per week! :) And you're doing so many things right! Hang in there, this is a long term game :) I'm on the same journey and I'm just trying to be consistent so that everything becomes my new normal. I find that my weight fluctuates through the week by 1.5kgs depending on sodium, cycle, etc, etc. Keep at it x

I saw this BBC doco called how to stay young & then took my "real age" test which showed me what I need to do to get my age number down, so I'm not focused on the scale number anymore, even tho still weigh in once a week, I'm not relying on the scales to make me feel happier. I am now focused on health & if weight loss happens, then I will enjoy that too :) If you're interested, I fully recommend u watch this in YouTube https://youtu.be/gM0sSYftK10

Hi Ivygirl85, I have that frustration too. It's not calories we are gaining it's muscle mass. Frustrating as it may be, keep up the good work.

I follow you girl...But keep going on thus process, it is a life time change! Think about how long have you been eating on bulk? How long did take for your body to be the way it is now? I do not believe it was from night to day. So you need to be very patience here. The results you want will take long time too. But you will see it, and it will be life changing, you can bet!

are you eating enough?

In the past I found out that my weight would drop in every second or third week. At times it will remain stable. Just started a new program and have lost 1.6 Kgs in a week. Feels great to watch what I’m eating.

Try skipping breakfast and lunch and go to one meal a day. Lose as many carbs as you can. Focus on green vegies, proteins and healthy fats. The weight will fall off.

everyone's different but for myself I lost alot by exercising at least 5-6 days. the more you excersise and eat clean the more you lose weight.

I feel your pain, I had to experiment a long time til I found which eating plan suited me. I definitely found that my body responds better to high fat (nuts, olive oil, coconut oil, avocado etc), low carb, with a bit of fasting thrown in (I don't eat til lunch time Monday-Friday). I notice you're eating low fat meals, fat has a lot to do with satiety, maybe the low fat eating plan isn't your thing? Even though fat has twice the calories, I eat less on a high fat diet. Maybe worth having an experiment for a couple of weeks. Good luck in your journey!

Agreed with Giselle791 ,I also spent many a year on low fat diets with limited results ,after hitting a high of 88kg earlier last year I decided to try something different- totally against all that I had been told. I changed from a high carb/low fat diet to the opposite and 9 months on I've lost 17kg without feeling deprived at all .It took months to get my head around the different way of eating the high fat diet. Like Giselle791 I also don't eat until lunch time most days (I do have a coffee with cream and a tablespoon of coconut fat to help with satiety), never thought I could survive without breakfast!! Didn't think I would ever reply to someone on their weight loss journey but I feel for you and know that feeling of frustration when you're following a plan of eating and not seeing the results. All the very best Ivygirl85

Get rid of the fruit smoothie. Low fat but you are hitting the sugar hard. That is what makes you fat...sugar not fat.

I never write on social media but I feel your pain - so this is a first for me. Forever I have been on a low fat diet. I have high cholesterol and a heart condition and struggle with my weight. I took up trail running and watched my diet (low fat and high carbs). I am very fit; running half trail marathons. But my weight is very stubborn and getting worse (98kg when I started this). If only I could lose weight my running would be so much better. I measure my bloods every couple of months with almost no change over 25 years despite drugs. I recently went against everything I have been taught and added all healthy fats (avocado, olive oil and coconut oil) and cut out carbs down to 70g per day. The results have been amazing and unbelievable. I am able to calorie restrict and fast without feeling hungry or depressed (so my weight is reducing), and the blood results have been extraordinary; a 30% drop in total cholesterol, triglycerides and cholesterol ratio. I went to see my cardiologist to ask about the high fat diet. He is an advocate and is also swayed by my results. I don't miss carbs at all (except beer and chocolate which I add from time to time). I've also lost about 9 kg over 4 months. I now feel fit AND healthy. All I can suggest to you (in this order) is: take the plunge and believe, minimise carbs (especially sugar), add more fat, exercise, intermittent fast, be honest, don't beat yourself up if you lapse, don't worry if its slow.
