Day 120- Hit the 30lbs gone. I never thought when I started this I would get this far. It has been almost 4 months. This is the longest time I have ever stuck to a ‘diet’ if you can call it that? I give a lot of credit to FS and how easy it is to use. Not all the data inputs may be accurate, but it gives a great way to see what you’re really doing. I also give a lot of credit to all my buddies and everyone that posts what is working and what does not. But like almost everyone that has extended success, I had to be ready for it. I have gone from getting winded just walk up my steps to the second floor to using the steps in the hotels I stay in, even up 6 floors. Another funny thing is I actually look forward to my workouts and feel a little bummed when I have to have an off day to recover, lol. I am no where near where I want to be physically fit. I can not run a 5k yet, I am not up to pass my rowing test, but I will be able to.

Overall, it has been fun so far and that is a first for me on a journey like this. I have also been able to clean up some other things in my life along the way in the past 4 months. I am sure things are going to continue. I am a happier person overall.

So where to go from here? Well I still have not reached my second goal of 175lbs, still have 20lbs to go. The real question comes when I reach that goal, will it be enough for me, or will I want to keep going? I want to cut back on my red meat. I hope to get of my heart meds (tests in a few weeks). I want to be able to run a 5k by the end of the summer. I want to get back onto a rowing team by this time next year. I want to continue to be able to pay my debt down on a steady rate and feel good about it. I am going to control my shopping (yes, there is man who enjoys shopping! I have the bills to prove it, but nothing to show for it!)

On another note: Not sure if I had put this out there yet? I am the president of our local Jr. Wrestling club and the local youth soccer club. I basically run both programs with the help of great volunteers, like me. It is all for the kids and keeping that active and learning life lessons. Well anyway, for both clubs we always need to raise a small fortune each year and basic fundraising is slowly becoming a thing of the past. So after looking into this whole 5K thing, I was wondering if we should try to run one for the 2 clubs combined. I also thought of adding another element and use a portion of the funds raised or the sponsorships to start a kid-zone improvement project (basically try to improve parts of the community to promote kids being active, playgrounds, weekend events, kick-ball, etc.)? We are in a low income area and need all the help we can get. So the real question is, how much can we make? Is it OK for this cause or does it have to a ‘Walk for Life’ event? How much to charge? Sponsors or not? How many runners are normal for an event like this (we are 20 mins outside of Philly and over the river from Wilmington, De)? Of course I would promote the event through all the online sites.

Super congratulations on the 30 pounds gone! I agree wholeheartedly about FS. Tracking food may not be an exact science but at least we get a general idea of what we are consuming (and it helps keep us honest). Good luck with your fundraising!

Congrats on the 30 pounds!!! Some of the coaches at my school started doing a 5K fundraiser for our sports program last year during our town's summer festival.. I can ask them for more details this week! We are in a dinky little town, but I think they had a good turnout last year!

Congrats on the weight loss and hitting one of your goals. It seems to me you have a lot going on so even if you find youve hit your end goal you have plenty to strive for. I know this is going to sound silly but life isnt all about losing weight. You should feel really proud of all youve achieved so far. And to top it off youve obtained the biggest goal of all, happiness.

You are doing great!! I admire your drive and I think you have great goals. I think that doing a 5K for a fundraiser is a great idea, especially when you are raising money for activities. We just had a 5K in our area for the local animal shelter, so why not for kids activities? They charged $15 per person and everyone got a shirt. If I were you I'd try to get some sponsors or see local businesses will donate any prizes for the winner(s) or have a drawing for the kids who participate or something, or donatations for shirts for participants. It doesn't hurt to ask. I hope the fundraising efforts go well, I think it's a great cause!
