One of my Sassy friends, Sarah, suggested that we should set some goals for 2018, which is a great idea, I think. So I have decided on the following:

1) My weight goal will be to get down to 130lbs and then maintain at 130-132lbs, trying to stay "in the blue" more than I have been.

2) Exercise goals: One will be for walking - I think I'd like to walk from our house to the restaurant at Col de Rates, which is a pass I walked up to recently, but I didn't start from the house before, which is extra distance and altitude. And my UK walking goal would be to catch all of the available regular Pokémons that I haven't already got 🎒😀 Plus: I MUST beat the demons that stop me doing the stretches and weights etc that I KNOW I should do, but just won't do! Aaaarghhhhh!

3) And I'll set a music goal of learning to play a competent jazz-style walking bass - not necessarily a very good one, but something that will do.

Actually I just went back and looked at old journals to see if I had set any goals for 2017, and found on the 27th December last year:

"1) I'd still like to get properly below 10 stones, i.e. 139lbs. I might try and achieve that reasonably quickly, however in practical terms, there is no real urgency to it.

2) I want to move to a really slow weight loss for the next few months. I still have the idea in my head that I should go a little bit lower, maybe to 135lbs, but definitely don't want to need smaller clothes again too soon.

3) And most importantly, I want to learn to maintain in a reasonable way."

Well I'm pleased to say items 1 and 2 were accomplished, and I've made some progress with item 3. My idea of maintaining seems to be overindulging at times and then making up for it later, but it seems to work. I have actually got used to eating smaller portions and picking less-fattening items from menus, which is helping. Still working on smoothing out that zigzag weight graph, but happy as long as my gains are only short-term.

My current favourite weight control tip would be: wear tight clothes when you eat out 😁
