Good Morning.

I am dragging today. Tired. I have not slept well in forever. Even on vacation. It is the wonder of being a woman and experiencing hot flashes which disturb my sleep. There are times I wonder if I will ever be able to sleep restfully again.

I was so tired I considered skipping exercising this morning. Then I talked myself into 20 minutes. Then at 20 minutes I convinced myself to do 2 more minutes. Ended up doing the full 30 hoping it would energize me. It didn't but I did feel good about doing the 30 minutes.

I also woke up HUNGRY so I ate breakfast first. Usually I exercise first then eat. Hubby is on days this week so that means I am cooking for him in the morning. One more thing to do. It probably only takes another 15 or 20 minutes and I know he appreciates it so I do it. He would understand if I said "no" but I am a woman who tends to "caretake" my man. He'll be back on nights next week ... probably until sometime in April then we'll be back to days for both of us.

My vacation was wonderful. Busy!! We flew into Vegas and spent two nights there getting our fill of sensory overload and having our pockets fleeced!! LOL!!! Always so many interesting people to watch. The best part was eating at Tommy's. We used to eat there in LA. Chili cheese burgers and chili cheese fries that in my opinion are to die for. I hadn't had one in years and years. We also hit a number of thrift stores which was also fun. Hubby's favorite part was a surplus store we found that was a surplus store extraordinaire!!! Even I was impressed!! We drove through some dicey neighborhoods which made me want to lock the doors on the car. It was entertaining.

Then we left Vegas and took the day to drive through Zion National Park, stopping to take a leisurely hike down a canyon. Gorgeous. Then on to Bryce Canyon National Park for two nights. Bryce was stunning too but unbelievably COLD. The wind was killer. Still snow in Bryce but all the roads were clear. We took one hike down into the canyon to Queen's Gardens I think it was called. That was quite an adventure with snow, ice, and mud on the trail. I loved every moment.

Next it was on to Sedona, Arizona for a week. I am not a big fan of the desert but Sedona was absolutely stunning. The place we stayed at was very nice and included a small kitchen complete with dishes and cooking utensils. So we ate out some and ate in some. We explored around town and neighboring areas, did a little hiking and exploring of future hikes. It is a place we'd like to go back to. Ate at Elote's at the recommendation of several friends and indeed it was delicious. I had smoked scallop enchiladas that were delectable. We shared a chili infused chocolate pie for dessert and of course I drank margaritas!!! The infamous Chef delivered our appetizer of Elote. It was quite a night.

We wrapped up the vacation by heading back to Las Vegs to fly back home. Spent the night in Henderson, Nevada because it would be a little closer to the airport. We won 250 free bonus points to gamble with which was fun. Still didn't come back with oodles of cash but we did have a lot of fun.

I pretty much ate whatever I wanted to and treated myself to things I do not typically eat and drank much more alcohol than I do on a regular basis. Watched a lot of TV (we don't have television reception at home) which was surprisingly entertaining. Love watching the food shows and storage wars. LOL!!! I am a simple girl.

I did take pictures and those of you who are FB friends with me were deluged with photos. Eventually I'll post a few here.

Getting back into the swing of things here at work has been difficult. Just not "feeling it" yet I guess. Also lots to do. Serving as president of Idaho's Infant Mental Health Association is proving more time consuming than I anticipated. I've also been asked to mentor and provide reflective supervision to a newer clinician in another office so that will eat up time. Then yesterday my supervisor asked me if I would consider becoming a coaching mentor for a state-wide project. Oh what to do. She thinks I'd be 'great' at it. It is another time commitment ... probably 10 hours a month or so and of course no increase in compensation (remember I work for the State!!!). I'm pondering it. I feel like there is enough on my plate with work responsibilities, the association, and my own practice and yet .... oh I just don't know what to do about that but need to decide soon.

Food wise I've done great this week. It has been relatively easy to get back to counting calories and tracking what I eat. I have no clue what I weigh and am curious but still feel I will wait, at least until Saturday, before I weigh. I have not felt badly about taking a break, have not been beating up on myself, and other than being tired feel good.

So there you have it!!

Well, I better get to work here, I'm burning daylight!! Take care of yourselves!!

Oh I forgot to tell you about my driving adventures!! We have ICE. Driving is a real experience as I get closer to home. Did pretty well last night until our driveway. Tried to back the car into my parking spot and started sliding towards hubby's truck!!! I was so afraid it would collide. When it stopped I put it in park and had to hold onto the roof rack to make my way to the front door in an upright position. Hate ice. I'd rather have mud. It froze overnight so not so difficult this morning but still incredibly slippery!!! The thaw cannot happen soon enough. Every night I wonder if I will make it home. Slip slidding away!!!

Glad you had a good holiday. Your world seems to be expanding by the minute. Sadly, mine seems to be getting smaller. I've just got to get off my a$$ and get a life!(and cut down on the alcohol and chocolate)

Flax so good to see you here. I just checked and no new journal from you though since September 2011!!! Losing your life partner isn't easy. Don't be too hard on yourself. I'm always happy to chat via PM's ... don't hesitate to write to me. Sometimes it is easier when it isn't so public. Take care Judy!!
