MightyFull's Journal, 15 June 2017

My best friend's husband has been diagnosed with Stage 3 lymphoma. CAT scan showed cancer in lymph nodes of neck, abdominal region, spleen, bone, and possibly left kidney. Biopsy is yet to come. Since March, he's lost over 40lbs. He had been treated for possible pneumonia due to high fever and sweats, when his doctor wasn't available, and he saw another doctor within the group. This is just news from Monday. Talk about a tail spin.

I've been having crazy dreams lately and wouldn't be getting what you'd call restful sleep. Yesterday I just succumbed to emotional eating. You know the drill, where you are just wanting that particular "something" and eat everything in your house trying to locate that one thing, but never finding that satisfaction? Major CARB day - like 6 servings over what I was supposed to enjoy. And didn't really enjoy any of it.

Today I woke up and had a power meeting with myself. By emotional eating, I am not helping anyone. Instead of finding my way to the kitchen for some emotional grazing, there is housework, there is fresh air, there is a good book to entertain myself with.

I really just want to cry for my friend, yet the tears won't come. Not yet.
Just overwhelmed for her. For her husband, and their 3 year old child.

So, SO, sorry to hear the bad news. I know you'll be there for you BFF with emotional and practical support (like watching her 3 year old).

Keep offering, and offering, and offering. You had quite a revelation there. Emotional eating doesn't help anyone, doesn't change the situation, doesn't solve a problem. It especially doesn't help you and it makes you feel awful the next day. You need to be on your game for your friend. This is devastating news for all. My condolences and wishes for a plan for remission.
