Ok!!

I have a theory now, about my body. Might not be the same for everyone, but here goes...

If I gym, my weight goes up for that week by 1 kg (muscle mass, that I understand), but then, this week, no gym & my unofficial weight this morning is down to 75.5 kg.

So, I will definitely log a loss this week, but then I bet you all, that next week's weigh-in will be a gain, when I go back to gym...

Any comments welcome!!!

Sore muscles retain water. There's articles about people being heavier when they gym than when they stop gyming.

I agree that exercise, especially weight training causes the scale to go up. I've been struggling to log a loss for nearly a month now. Now hopefully my body seemed to have adjusted to the normal morning weight/cardio routine and as long as I keep to the keto diet and keep the carbs under 20g, my scale moves in the right direction or stays the same. How is your water intake for the week that you gym? I find that as long as I keep the water intake good, the muscles tend to heal faster.

Weight loss journey is a serious self-discovery/body-discovery...you really get in tune with how things work for you as an individual...thanks for sharing that discovery

Sore muscles as in stiff? Or because I'm gymming? Because they aren't always sore... @yoliesP, my water intake is up to par!! I drink enough water, while I'm at the gym, as well as during the day. @Lee_za, you are most welcome!! :-)

Forget about the scale and start measuring progress with either tape measure or bodyfat caliper. Usually we do not want to lose weight but bodyfat and the scale just won't tell you that.

I found the same when I was gyming...I was logging weight gain...Im taking a break from gym now because it was a little discouraging. I will go back once I've reached my milestone.

Any activity that requires your muscles to work hard will cause micro tears in them which will result in inflammation/water retention. Sometimes you may not feel the soreness or stiffness in ur muscles although your workout caused those micro tears.

@Bornmanh - I have started measuring with a tape measure :-) @BBO, I thought as much, I just wanted to make sure!!

Personally, I decided to give up on training till I master the diet (I just cannot focus on both right now) ... I still go to the gym 3/4 times a week, but for a leisurely swim ... just so I don't forget where it is lol. All the best to you ... let the self-discovery continue! We all need to find what works for us yes ... thanks for sharing!
