"Fixed" the new elliptical; thats' in quotes because the broken flang is still inside the machine and I am hoping that the bearing does not walk its way back in. I probably should have gotten it replace. The vendor (Dick's Sporting Goods) has excelent customer service and told me I could try to fix it if I wanted, but even if I made it worse, they would send a whole new one. It seems to work just fine and with any luck will stay that way - so I am chosing to keep it.

First workout was this morning. Been a long time, and much different than the old one. For one thing the resistance levels are totally different. So while I was cruising on Level 9 (of 15)on my old one, or on a PreCor, I am stuck starting at Level 4 (of 12) on this one.

The caloriw burn rate seems much higher on this unit too. I was gettin 22-23 calories per minute this morning, while I would only get 18-20 calories per minute showing on the old one (which was usually more optimistic than the PreCor's in the gym). While I would typically burn 75 calories to my starting workout song ("Gonna Fly Now" - I know, obvious and stupid), I got 100 calories on that song this morning.

Guess now I have to recalibrate my whole calorie deficit approach.

Also made Crock Pot Banana Nut bread today. My first foray into crock pot baking. And barring some really easy midwestern cookie recipes and the Libby's Pumpkin pie, my first real baking of anything breadlike. Not too pleased with the results -- uneven burning. I am thinking it would have been better done in the oven. May try one more crock pot baking experience -- but suspectd the crock will be relegated to roasts and stews...
