Good Evening, FS Buddies!
Spent the last couple of days with extended family who came from other states for their grandfather's funeral. Of course, time together involved eating-and I did too ugh of it. Ate light today to compensate. Haven't missed a workout yet though. Still hoping for a loss this Friday.

There is a cold wind blowing today. The weather has been way too mild for January. I have a pre-surgery physical scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Going to have an eyelid lift on the 30th. My left eye gets a little lazy when I'm reading since I had that bout of Bells Palsy. Although you probably wouldn't notice it unless I told you, it can get a bit annoying-especially when preaching or trying to read music. They say that I will be black and blue for two or three days, but it is outpatient surgery.

I've been slowly building a base on the treadmill. No sense rushing anything; that only leads to injury. I broke into a jog a few times, but I don't want to make it a habit right yet. I'm too heavy, and it is too soon. I don't need shin splints or pulled hamstrings. There is no hurry, since you can lose just as much weight by walking as you can jogging. It isn't the exercise that takes the weight off; it's the building of muscle which burns more calories over the long haul-even at rest. Stop and think about it; most of us would have to run a marathon to burn enough calories to lose one pound. I think that is what frustrates a lot of newbies. They kill themselves working out and don't see the results they were hoping for.
