I have been doing a little bit of exercise at work the past few days and have to say that in the down time at work it is good to try and do something productive in the way of losing weight. As a shift worker (days and nights) we have been provided with a Cross-Trainer Machine to keep the blood flowing to stay alert. I think I will make good use of this on Night shifts and weekends when we get some down time. I have been doing 10 minute sets with at least an hours break between sets. Last night I managed to get 70 mins on the cross-trainer and feeling good about myself. This is a low impact machine but gets the heart pumping and sweat dripping after a little while.

We have one of these machines at home but TBH I just cannot get motivated to use it at home. That is why I have found a Gym Membership to be usful in the past. i feel that when i get to the gym that I am there and paying for it so better get into it. Hwile at home there can be too many distractions and excuses to not do a work out...

I was aiming at joining the local gym once i had lost 10kgs but the way i am going that will be very soon and TBH I just cannot afford to join a Gym right now. By March I should be on top of everything and be able to join up at the gym. Until then I will continue using the cross-trainer, try to get more motivated at home and walk my dog more frequently.

I think it's AWESOME that you use your down time at work to EXERCISE! Imagine getting paid what you know that you should be doing for YOURSELF. This totally rocks. I have worked in shifts with IMMENSE down time, and it drove me crazy. I wish I had options like this.

Yeah i think it is great to be able to do this, as you said i am getting paid to exercise to lose weight. I think it is great that out management have provided this service to us. The only catch was we had to have a doctors check to see if we were healthy enough to use it. Also the computer/control unit has been taken off the machine so that it is not used as a competition between people at work. I would personally like to be able to bring Dumbbells into work but that has been knocked back as it could be to hazardous anc cause an injury. I understand the Health and Safety issues behind it but it is still a pain.

Yeah, that's a bother, not being able to do MORE, but of course I also see the company's concern.
