Crazy day. Not enough sleep last night as our smoke detectors/house alarm system went off 2x....once just before midnight and another time about 3AM. What the heck...????!!!

Everything's fine with the house. We figure it's a system problem. Costs an arm-and-a-leg to get the alarm people out to take a look, so we're replacing the back-up battery on our own. I THINK a malfunction, or weakening battery fits the problem, at least if I remember correctly from the alarm guy who came out shortly after we bought the house. He recommended that if we had to replace another battery, which should happen every 3-5 years (not 2 years like this one) to get it from this battery supply store in a nearby city, rather than having the alarm co. replace it because it would be cheaper at the store.

So, off I went to this place which is WAY over on the far side of another town, probably almost 45 minutes away. Then, surprise! They've moved across town in the opposite direction! Finally got the battery and DH switched it out, so only time will tell. If we still have the problem, then we'll just have to break down and call a security company and pay the exorbitant bill. But we can't live with this thing going off in the middle of the night for no reason. I swear it takes 10 years off my life every time and, quite frankly, I think I'm running out of years to lose!!!!

No exercise for me today either...just too busy, which I know is not a good excuse. In lieu of exercise, I helped DH move our HEAVY, unwieldy, old TV from one room to another. One, or some, of my hand muscles just gave way near the end of the move and I had to "catch" an end of the TV on one of my thighs. They've been feeling used and abused since then. And I thought I had been getting in shape! All's well that ends well....we DID manage to move the ol' TV and get it set up in its new home ("old" home will get the new, much lighter, TV). In a way, I think we were both hoping the TV WOULD fall and crash so we could justify a 2nd new set.

Amazon finally shipped the one Angel Tree gift I ordered last week. Supposed to be here on Saturday which is about 12-24 hours too late! Keeping my fingers crossed it arrives a bit earlier or I'll be out shopping Friday night.

Because of all the unpredictable changes in schedule, I'm eating at weird times and having atypical foods at those times. This will end up being an interesting experiment.

Bren, that TV has been ver reliable but has been a big monster since the day we brought it home....DH had some male help then, if I remember correctly. Boy, I sure know what you mean about that "I used to could do things like that no problem."

Hi Karen....unfortunately, no such luck with the battery fixing the system....it's just past 10:30PM and the darn thing went off again. It would be an easy, temporary fix is we could just figure out how to turn the entire thing off completely, but they wire these things so one can't just flip a switch or turn off a breaker to disable it. So, it looks like I need to contend with an alarm company tomorrow.

This is not a good time of year to be short on sleep OR have extra expenses! I hope they come today & get you fixed up. With all the extra stress of the holidays & angels shipping in time, a girl needs her beauty sleep! All that & you are a heavy electronics mover too, I hope you didn't hurt yourself...bad time of year for that too!
