I don't know how many times I've started strong and faded out into the distance at this point. A few too many would be accurate. I'm back up to where I was when I went into surgery for my kidney stone a year and a half ago. Right now I'm loosely following South Beach standards but I'm having a lot of trouble getting around to breakfast. I bought whole grain oatmeal last week and have only made it once. Some days I forget to even make a dinner meal so we end up just having sandwiches or drive thru.

My largest weakness still remains ordering out at work. It's an out of control addiction that I need to get a handle on. I finally went to my bank and ordered a new Visa debit card. Once I receive and activate it, the other card will be deactivated and I won't have to worry about having the card number memorized anymore. I can just leave it at home and the temptation is gone. Eventually I will have to deal with the addiction to get past it, but for now working around it will have to suffice. I can't afford to keep spending $15-$20 for one meal several times a week. Not only does it completely negate my weight loss efforts, it blows all of our excess money that we're supposed to be saving.

I took a walk today on my own, without being required to do it like I do with my work patrols. It was just a short walk to and from our leasing office, maybe 15-20 minutes round trip, but I did it. The first thing I noticed was the lack of breathing capacity. I'm really kicking myself for giving in after almost 2 months of not smoking. Yet one more addiction I need to get a handle on. The second thing I noticed was that it didn't hurt nearly as much as I think it will. I started off at a pretty fast pace without stretching out, so my calves and lower back started to hurt a bit. But I've learned a lot this year about being in tune with my body. My calves were just warming up with use, and my lower back pain is caused by extra weight and the pressure from my chest. When I got to the leasing office, I wished that I'd left sooner so I could walk a little more. It's a really nice day here, mid-70's and a little windy, so it would've been a beautiful day for it.

I feel pretty good today. We're making our final trip to Disney for the year in a week and I can't wait to see it all decked out in holiday magic again. Our annual passes expire on our last day there and we won't be renewing them for 2012. After 9 trips in 2 and a half years, I think we've gotten our Disney fix for a while. For us it's kind of a return to real life. We want to focus on our health more, weight loss and no smoking, and it's time for us to start looking down the road past next month.

Welcome back. I wish there was an easy answer to help stop eating out. Hopefully not having your card on you will help. Just remember that when you are faced with "having to" eat out, there are healthy options almost anywhere you go. When you "forget" to make dinner throw some sliced veggies in a pan and sautee them with the sandwhich fixings instead of the sandwich. I personally love the portabella mushroom crust pizza and they are so fast to make. I like to slice up the veggies ahead of time so when I'm in a hurry on the weeknights they are quick to grab. I also find it very satisfying to have 10 pound incrament goals, you reach them quick enough to keep you motivated. Good Luck and keep coming back!

Welcome back! Congrats on the walk too! If you have a crockpot, maybe you could plan a healthy dish to have when you get home. There is also a recipe to make oatmeal overnight in the drckpot..I've never done it but sounds fabulous getting up to breakfast and / or lunch made! I try to plan ahead to have food and or snacks, especially when I first start a program. Good luck and hang in there! You can do it!! This is your time to do something for you!
