So yesterday was July 4th, and I was invited over to a friend's house for the traditional fireworks & foodfest. Have you ever been invited to a party and didn't want to go, because you knew lots of food would be there & you'd eat it? That's kind of how I felt yesterday, but I went because I don't want to live my life in fear of food. I TRIED to come up with a strategy for dealing with it, which would include getting an extra work-out, eating low-cal for most of the day, taking a veggie tray & watermelon spears to snack on at the party, and swimming in their pool in order to stay out of their kitchen. Well my hubby wanted to go see a movie so no extra workout, and I developed a headache & decided swimming wouldn't happen either - good thing, too, as most of the other guests had young kids & the pool was FULL! I did okay on the low-cal eating, including a small protein snack before going to the party, and surprisingly I didn't eat as much as usual. Still too much, got 2 helpings of fruit pie & this creamy something made with pistachio pudding & condensed milk; at least I ate the watermelon as well. Also ended up having a margarita, something I don't normally do. End result - I'm up 2 lbs, no big surprise, but I suppose it could have been worse. So today I'm back at work, and back on the diet plan. Also intend to get on the treadmill tonight & do some ab work. Hopefully the gain will go away pretty quickly.
