Don't forget that when exercising, you may not see the scale go down as fast (depends on the person and how much weight you have to lose), because you can lose fat/inches and go down in sizes before that scale moves much. Both the scale and going down in sizes are both ways of showing weight loss success. I always figure I would rather be 150 pounds and a size 4 than 140 pounds and a size 8. Exercise can make all the difference.
