LadyinDenim's Journal, 25 May 2016

Wishing there was more veg in the house. Would have loved to add a cup of broccoli to my eggs.

Hubby does the grocery shopping because he knows where the prices are best for organic and non GMO. Aldi's, Trader Joe's, and Target get most of our money. We like our local co-op, but it is always the most expensive.

He came home frustrated yesterday saying, "All the stuff we usually eat has sugar in it. I don't know what to buy for you!" I said, "Don't worry. It just means I have to cook more. I have tons of bone broth. I'll be fine."

I found a recipe for sugar free BBQ sauce on a paleo site. It requires I buy a kitchen gadget called a stick blender. We'll see.

Anyway, it's better to quit sugar and have no cravings than consume measured portions and obsess until my next fix. Sugar has no place in my diet. I read a journal entry on here that really stuck with me. It compared eating sugar with robbing banks. I choose every day to not rob a bank because it is the right way to live. I know sugar causes diabetes, heart disease and cancer. There is no safe amount to consume and I am willing to live my life knowing there is no outcome where sugar is a reward.

I'm going to find the right stores where I live and where I work and start bying the foods you're talking about. I hope to be starting a garden next season too.

Right. Just trying to ration sweets just leads to trouble.

I have garden fantasies and two tomato plants on my counter. They need to go in the ground today!
