Exactly one week on low carb/high fat. Down eight pounds, lots of water and glycogen I'm sure. This is the first time I've ever cut out bread and as much sugar as possible entirely, and here is my experience with it...

The first five days or so consisted of a moderate dull achy headache the whole time. I started drinking a big powerade zero everyday because I was worried maybe I had an electrolyte imbalance. Headaches went away, take from that what you will.

My workouts got harder and harder, but now that I'm seven days in I'm starting to improve again. I'm at 3.5 miles in 40 minutes, before I was making 4 miles in forty minutes.

About day five I was able to recognize that I no longer crave carbs, breads or sweets. Don't get me wrong, when I smell it I still want it because my brain remembers it's addiction, but it's bearable. I don't miss it. I went to a cookout yesterday serving steak, macaroni salad, baked potatoes, baked beans, broccoli salad and brownies. I had steak and broccoli salad. The salad was low carb, I know because I made it. ;) Easy peasy. Normally the cookout would have killed me.

This morning I went to the gym and I am now force feeding myself eggs and cucumber salad. Not hungry, period. Weird.

Getting results and sideways looks (if ya know what I mean) so I'm going to keep sticking with it.

Feeling confident and attractive. Hope this feeling sticks.

Have a good day buddies!

Wow! That's great! As a vegetarian, I don't know if I could ever fully cut out carbs - but maybe cutting down would be really good for me! Perhaps it's worth a shot.

Fantastic, Yo! I've cut down carbs a lot but I don't think I could pare it right down. I should give it a go though. Maybe I'll do it after our holiday weekend, from the 31st. That would give me time to plan. Yep, that's what I'm going to try - you're so encouraging Yo 😉

Great job! We are having a memorial day cookout monday and I've been thinking about making "potato" salad subbing cauliflower instead. There's lots of recipes online subbing high carb foods for low carb...The broccoli salad sounds good too! On a side note, think about not "forcing" yourself to eat if not hungry? Letting time go between feedings can be a very good thing!

I had the same experience..one day the cravings were just gone. It was sort of weird! At almost the 2 month mark on LCHF, other interesting things are happening. Flavors seem more intense..sweet is almost TOO sweet, and my usual amount of salt is too salty. Spices, too. I cook with a lot of herbs and spices, and I've had to cut way back on them because the flavors are too intense. Not being hungry is almost a constant now. Keep up the good work!

I've been on the LCHF since mid Feb and I had fogginess, dull headaches, etc., the first several weeks. I understand that we need to bump up our salt intake a bit on this diet. Seems to help with the fogginess. Anyway, I know how it feels dumping the sugar. I took a test online to see if I was a sugar addict - funny thing, every question (I mean every one) affirmed that I'm a sugar addict. I also have had days when I'm just not hungry. Funny how that happens. Nice to hear you are doing well! I'm glad for you.
