Ryojiin's Journal, 06 May 2016

Ran and finished my very first 5K today! It was pouring down rain, thunder, purple lightning, and windy the entire time, but I did it anyway! My time was about 37 minutes, don't know if that's good or bad, but for my very first 5k, it's a benchmark. It was a lot of fun, even despite the storm, so I'll certainly be doing more in the future. ^_^

I'm not really a runner, honestly. I wanted to participate in the 5k because CAPSA is one of the non-profits my restaurant is partnered with, and it just kinda sounded like fun. I originally planned to walk the whole thing (I can walk 4 miles in one hour, and 5k is 3.1 miles), but I just got the urge to run, so I did. And then I tried to run as much of it as I could, walking on occasion. I got caught behind some larger slower groups that wanted to walk 3-5 abreast down the narrow pathway, the streets were torn up and full of potholes and puddles, part of the park path was actually broken away and kinda falling into the river. It was still a nice route, though.
