Bit of an update - although I will say upfront, no new 'news'. Went to meet w/ the surgeon yesterday. He CONFIRMED the need for a biopsy. I swear, what a money making farce this medical industry is...

Ok, so the real appt is now next Tuesday. Will be done w/ a Radiologist under ultrasound.

The surgeon suggested it might be a Fibroid Tumor - which he felt was uncommon for women my age... What are you trying to say, Doc??? (he laughed) But usually is found in 20-30 yr olds. Ok, I'll take that!

The other option of what it could be - we have agreed to not discuss unless it proves to be ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!

So his scheduling nurse comes in the room w/ a cordless phone...and calls over to the radiology dept at the hospital. "How's Thurs Oct 27th?" - No! HELL NO! I am not waiting until the end of October for this question mark to be resolved.

We ended up w/ the first available, next Tues... (meanwhile mr.doc is looking at my chart and trying not to laugh!)

Maybe you had to be there... but it was kinda funny at the time. What is wrong w/ people? They do this for a living... deal w/ people day in and day out... doesn't she realize how concerning this might be to someone! A month... really?

Ok, anyway... LIFE is good beyond dr. appts... looking forward to the weekend, and some much needed stress relieving down time w/ the hubby! It's supposed to rain here this weekend. Was thinking of trying to get out and do some fall clothes shopping. (before all the good stuff is gone!)

Planning on enduring the 500 pairs of pants I have to try on to find one that fits...as my exercise for the day! :) Much Love.

I hope all works out for you. A co-worker just turned 40 this year and had to go for her first mammogram. Yep, you guessed it. She has been in treatment for most of her 40th year. I work in health care and understand that the process takes time but at the same time I feel that in certain circumstances, time is of the essence. Glad you were able to get in sooner.

Hope you get through with this nonsense soon enough - but I truly believe it is better to be safe than sorry. And why are you shopping for pants - are the 6's getting too big now?

Hi Paula, glad you stood your ground and got an early appointment so you can get on with the rest of your life. Enjoy the week-end, hope you can find time with hubby, I'm craving that too (with my hubby, not yours - lol!)

thanks everyone! will keep you posted... broken record! Buffy - I only have one pair of jeans, size 8 Levi's - and a pair of slacks, size 6. I think my head had a hard time believing this was going to stay this way. Didn't want to waste money on stuff I wouldn't be keeping. And spring, summer and fall was in mostly skorts, skirts, and shorts. SO... it's time to embrace where I am regardless of the number, and find some clothes that fit. I basically wear athletic pants every day, unless I am going to church or on a date w/ hubby. That needs to change. I feel so much better when I can shower, get dressed in something nice, even just jeans and a shirt, do my makeup (very little) and my hair ... I just feel like a WOMAN! And my husband is always oh so happy to see me in my Levi's! He's a jeans man!!! And flannel. Oh my word, I could live in flannel, except I would have to live in the bedroom, because that's where we would always be. LOL!!!

Why the need for a surgeon, until you have a diagnosis? I tell you, I was raised in a medical family and they still baffle me. Paula, make sure you get a second opinion once you do have a dx.

Ah, yes....the medical field....can't live with them, can't live without them. Glad you pushed for an appointment sooner so don't have to have this hanging over your head any longer than necessary. Hope you find some good sales while you're shopping.

Hey Paula, I will be thinking about you, I have my Biopsy on Monday, just have to get these damn things over, my hubby said he would come with me, really sweet but maybe it's just me but have to do this stuff myself, won't have any results then.I am such a believer in alternatives acupuncture etc. but can't do that for some things. Have to go to my Doc on Tuesday to get everything else done cholesterol etc. Don't like buying jeans, I am going to have another look today, I find sizes so different last time I bought in Lane Bryant jeans size 20 but pants size 18 so I don't think size is at all relevant, can't stand jeans with any stretch at all. {{HUGS and prayers coming your way}}

Yvonne, I will be praying for you on Monday... and you can pray for me on Tuesday :) !!! I totally hear ya on the jeans. I like them to fit well in the waist, then drop off the tush and straight down w/ that little bit of a finger pinch of material off the back of the leg. Don't like skin tight...never have. Doesn't matter if it's an 8 or an 18... just not me. Much Love.

good luck - a woman after like age 40 is supposed to have them annually. My mom has breast cancer but it is at least under control for now with hormonal therapy. There is a lot they can do these days - that they could not do twenty or thirty years ago... hope it's a false alarm...

Believe me, they know how scary it is. The problem from the other side is that they have dozens of equally scared people to schedule for a limited number of operating theatres and a limited number of surgeons. Having had major life-saving surgery done quickly (just a week after my first encounter with the reaper) I do know how it feels.
