I guess I'm doing pretty well. Slow progress seems frustrating but FatSecret said at this rate, it would take me 5 months to reach my goal. That would definitely put me in regular size pants maybe like a 10-12 which is a lot better than size 18 or 20.

I work at a school. Today was a birthday but I just saved the cupcake for my daughter because I didn't know how many fat grams so I couldn't record it!

Fat Secret usually gives out daily calorie RDI suggested numbers that are too high. You might want to research on other sites to find a consensus RDI and adjust it on this website. @Draglist has some calorie calculator links on his website diettruth.org. Good job skipping the cupcake! Good luck to you!

I actually wasn't complaining about it taking 5 months. Just saying that although it seems slow, eventually I will reach the goal. I did change my RDI to a bit under what Fat Secret had recommended (don't remember the figures). For now, if I am losing between 1-2 lbs each week, I am happy.

Ah, gotcha. That's great! Sometimes what happens here is people are using the RDI Fat Secret gave them and basing their timelines on how quickly the website says they'll lose weight based on those calculations. They often become frustrated when that doesn't pan out and they don't end up losing the weight over time after all. But as long as you used a lower RDI and are indeed losing weight, that's good! As far as the 5 months part goes, FatSecret based that on you losing weight at a rate of 3.5 pounds per week. It did that because you weighed in on the 5th and again on the 7th and showed a 1-pound loss in that two-day time span. The website extrapolated that to a rate of 3.5 pounds a week, even though over the last three weeks, you've been averaging a pound a week. If you continue to lose weight at an average rate of one pound a week, you will lose about 21 pounds in the next five months. If you lose two pounds per week, that will be about 42 pounds in five months. Good luck!

You're losing weight at a healthy, sustainable rate. That's a great reality! Slow and steady wins this race. People who lose the weight at a reasonable rate and are patient may take longer to lose it but end up with fewer folds of extra skin and are more likely to keep the weight off, as they've incorporated changes to their eating habits over time. You're doing a great job and setting a wonderful example for your daughter! Keep up the great work!!!!
