Hi All! sorry it has been a while and I have been maintaining, but not on my diet. I got ill one morning and ended up in the ER. Where they found kidney stones and a tumor. Since that day I have had to have kidney surgery and had malignant tumor removed from my kidney. The recovery has been rough, but I am doing better everyday and I just got the OK from my Doctor to start walking 2-3 miles a day again. Also I have a question, has anyone heard that the Atkins "high Protien" can attribute to Kidney Stones? The Dr. said they may have been a reason for me getting kidney stones "too much protein".

WELL HAVE A BLESSED DAY AND STAY HEALTHY!

Atkins, as it's laid out, is not "high protein" but rather "optimal protein." I believe there are a number of articles, on the Atkins site, in the book, and elsewhere, addressing this. The key, however, is in evaluating the source, and validity, of the various opinions and research! But definitely follow the advice your doctor is giving you with respect to how much protein, in grams, you should be eating as you recover from your surgery. You can always bring any research items to his/her attention for discussion as to how they relate to your condition. Best of luck in your recovery.

Some people do have problems with too much protein and kidney stones. I would follow your doctors advice. I would also do some research. The amount of protein we need is an individual thing. Hope you have a quick recovery.

Thank you for your advice and I will continue the research during my recovery, so I know where I can go from there! THANK YOU AGAIN!
