Talk about disappointment!!!!

I haven't felt like this in a long time!!! Been to see the doctor yesterday - and in short - she fobbed me off!

I told her that I am struggling, that the constant monthlies are having an impact on my personnal life but that I rather not take hormones or have evasive surgery. She typed it all down, booked me in for a bloodtest and then told me that I have 3 options: leave things as they are, take hormones or have a hystorectomy. DUH! She filled out a percription for some progesteron and advised me to booked another appointment with a different doctor. Thanks very much for wasting my time :(

But I am not giving up hope just yet. Had a chat with a friend yesterday and she went through the same years ago. There are options!! I just need to speak to a specialist.
Thats why I like the German healthsystem; over there you go straight to the specialist, not your GP.

Anyways, I read through the leaflet for the progesterone and if taking it won't make me sick ( it has hundrets of side effects) simply swallowing will give me diarrehea as it contains lactose :S.

My next appointment is on the 26th. So I think I can hang in there! And I think the monthly is coming to an end for now anyway :)

My wife used to have serious bleeding issues. They tried a uterine ablation (may not be spelled correctly) and that seemed to help for a while but it got bad again and finally they did do a hysterectomy. I hope your next appt. ends with better results.

Stick with it. There are other options. As I've said before, a Merena coil worked a treat for me so it's worth investigating and suggesting it at your next doctor's visit. Does your practice have a doctor there with specific family planning / reproductive specialty? If so, book an appointment with that person. Finally, if your doctor was that dismissive, are they the right person to look after you in general? Are they going to fob you off in the same way if you present with persistent headaches, for example? Not all GPs are as suited to their job as they could be - same as Lawyers, Teachers and Telephone customer service agents! Look after yourself x

Go see a specialist. Your GP doesn't seem to have heard yet (even if it's been around for over 20 years) that there is a DIRECT High risk correlation between hormonal therapy and breast and ovarian cancer. Just because she's incompetent you shouldn't be put at risk for that.

Sometimes healthcare professionals to get that they're there for us you stick to your guns and listen to that inner voice you figure out the right thing to do and keep searching until you find the doctor that you feeling comfortable who seems like they really understand and listen to you

Years ago I had the same problem. After 2 D&Cs the doctor suggested to give Mirena a try. It worked fine, no more problems at all. As for low iron, are you a vegetarian? If not eat a lot of steaks :-) Not sure if it would fit in with your lifestyle but how about nettle juice (Brennesselsaft). Since you'll be in Germany, it is available in every drugstore. I used to mix it with buttermilk, wasn't so bad.
