Glad to be back on track after all the holiday revelry. I was pretty careful -- I thought -- about not eating anything that was non-FODMAP safe, but apparently I must have made some errors, because my IBS-D was not well controlled during the past two weeks. I'm hoping that as the next couple of weeks go by, things will settle down a little. But overall, I think I did pretty well. I hope the scale doesn't prove me wrong on Sunday. But the reality is -- if you can't eat wheat and you can't eat dairy outside of the house because it's not lactose free, it's a lot harder to get into trouble calorie- or carb-wise. Also, I tried to practice portion control even when I was eating something I knew was way more caloric than I should be eating. I have a pretty good sense of what a half cup serving looks like, which is really helpful. Also, when we ate out, I tried to order broiled or baked fish if I could, or broiled or baked chicken if there was no fish on the menu. Tonight, I'm starting to work on clearing out the proteins in the freezer so I can keep the food budget a bit more under control. Tonight is uncured turkey ham with mustard sauce. It's a small ham, but it will be enough for a couple of dinners and breakfasts or lunches. Next, I think I'll do fish -- there's mahi mahi and salmon in the freezer...

Sorry you had probs with your IBS-D. As I told you before, I have the opposite problem and if I remember to take the probiotics and enzymes, it does help me a lot. I have enjoyed cooking up a large portion of protein and making several meals out of it, or just freezing them for the future when I don't have time to cook. I bought some of the wide mouth pint size jars and they don't take much room up in the freezer. I never made a turkey ham before. How do you make the mustard glaze?
