FLOWERDUDE's Journal, 01 August 2011

To my dear FS friends...
Please say a prayer for my daughter, 17. She is trying to emotionally commit to Atkins.. after seeing my success. But I know her source of comfort from food has her bound.
It is a dangerous thing for a parent to speak to this place...and I admit I tread super lightly... but desperately want to see her free.
August 1st is her date...but period is here as well.
Sooooo alll that to say... please say a prayer for her heart, mind, emotions to go forth in hope. And for me to know when to hold em...and fold em.
It like seeing her take baby steps all over...

Nothing is harder for my mum than giving me encouragement in my weightloss, because I'm so freaking oversensitive about it. It's not hard for a parent, but I feel certain that your success is something that she is proud of and inspired by. =)

That's a hard thing to go through from both sides. Seeing as a kid your parent lose the weight and being the one that needs to lose it. And being the parent losing and seeing your child at a road block. Not easy. I think making sure she knows that it's something you take on one day at a time. It doesn't happen overnight and she's going to fall off the wagon now and then. It's a process. Good luck!

Prayers coming your way for you and your Daughter, it certainly is one of the hardest places to be, the parent in this situation. My Son has lost 25lbs in the last 6 weeks he was so amazed at my progress and said I was an inspiration for him to lose weight. But I know you will know just what to say and what not to say. You have traveled that long hard road. Just being there with gentle encouragement and love is enough......My son played football at Eastern Mich Univ so was always very fit plenty of exercise, so is getting back to working out as well......I am so proud of him, he said he has another 60lbs I know he will do it.

Sending happy vibes your way. I was just looking at your progress and it appears that just over a year ago, you were having difficulty walking and now you walk ALL THE TIME for exercise. I am so proud of you and your daughter for challenging the lovely genetic metabolic disorders that run rampant through our family. For me, hearing from my doctor (many years ago) that this is not a willpower thing but it is an actual physical reaction that causes my overeating, was very empowering...I got to quit beating myself up and get to the business of trying to correct it. Just keep doing what you are doing, and keep being the amazing dad that you are and she will do just fine! Hugs & Prayers

Oh, daddy, you know I'm kicking ass. I came to you a year ago asking you to do this, and you did it. It's my turn. Love you.

Hi Steve, hope your daughter does well - you can encourage and support but you know she's the one that's gotta do the work. It aint easy but she has your genes so sure she will do great!
