What’s the worst that can happen? – Now there’s a question for ya!

Gain weight… well, I thought that was the answer. For the better part of 6 months I fought w/ 5 lbs. Over and over again, wishing I could just somehow get the ball rolling again, I would strive to get back down under the 140 mark.

Left for vacation at 144 lb.

While flying down on the plane w/ my husband – we talked about ‘What’s the worst that can happen?’ if I choose to eat off my ‘plan’. I remembered something I was told back in April of 2010 before my vacation on a cruise. I was anxious then about Cruise Buffets, etc… and a very experienced Atkins follower told me to MAKE A PLAN!

Everything in life is open to change – dependent on your choices. If you have a plan, you’re more likely to stick to it.

So, I told myself – and my husband – Two times a week, I will pick one thing that day ‘extra special’ that I really want to have… and just have it. I will be good, and eat the rest of my meals, snacks, water, etc… just as I normally do, but when we have plans to go someplace special or do something different – I will incorporate my desire to have a drink, or a bag of popcorn, or whatever… into my two special times a week.

I highly expect there to be some ‘damage control’ in my future 

But I will weigh in – and let you all know how it went.

If the worst thing that can happen is I had a blast, totally enjoyed my vacation, and I gained a few pounds that I know I can take back off… well then… maintenance land isn’t so bad after all!!!

Much love my friends, missed you all!!!

Glad to see you back! I had been wondering if you had gone off on some "3-hour tour..." while on vacation and ended up stranded on Gilligan's Island! Happy to hear you enjoyed your vacation.

"I gained a few pounds that I know I can take back off" - this is so significant! After all this hard work you've done to take charge of your weight, you now have the tools to manage it if it goes up a tick due to something like vacation. To me this means you have overcome whatever kept you overweight in the first place & you should be very proud! Glad you had a great time!

Sandy - OH SO GOOD to be HOME! and Kat - thank you! That awareness came on the return flight yesterday. No anxiety, no regrets - just a whole lot of fun (controlled fun, but fun nonetheless)! Enjoyed my 91 yr old Auntie at the beach for the first time in 30+ years! (she's very much like my grammy) And enjoyed my LIFE! Once you realize you have the TOOLS - it makes LIFE so much more enjoyable!!!
