Chris1979's Journal, 22 July 2011

I am going to blame the heat for my weight gain b/c I think it's making me swell a ton and retain water. I've lost my ankles and my hands look like the man hands from that episode of Seinfeld. Totally puffed up! I have to wear my wedding ring and engagment ring around my neck on a necklace b/c they are definitely not fitting at this point in the game.

I had my 39 week doctor's appointment yesterday (even though I won't officially be 39 weeks until tomorrow). There has been no change since last week so my doctor said "definitely make an appointment for next week, your baby is comfy in there". So my next doctor's appointment is literally the day before my due date and on my last day of work before maternity leave begins-- next Friday.

I wanted to work as long as possible b/c I don't want to waste days at home with no baby out of my maternity leave. I work in an air conditioned building and sit at a desk all day so it's not very difficult to make it in here. And at this point I only have to do it 5 more days max.

Tonight Salem and I are having a date night. We have pretty much done this every Friday night for the last 3 weeks because we know our time out as just us is very limited and we want to enjoy it.

If I am still pregnant by next Friday then at my appointment they will officially schedule my induction date. It will most likely be either on the 5th or the 8th depending on whether or not they do weekend inductions or not for non-emergencies. My doctor practice thinks it is too risky to let people go beyond 41 weeks (b/c of increased risk of stillbirths). So it is quite possible that I will spend my first week of maternity leave at home with no baby. I'm hoping not, I was trying to avoid that, but I also don't want to come to work overdue. Also, I've already set up my entire leave and to change it at this point on everyone when I've already delegated my work seems like it would be more trouble than it's worth.

I'm not thrilled with my weight gain during this pregnancy, but I think those last few pounds are water weight and I hope that they will come off quickly once I have the baby.

maybe Horse Chestnut and Dandelion root tea or Pills would help I had a similar problem

I will keep labor thoughts floating towards you in the atmosphere!!! Hopefully labor will happen and you won't need to be induced. Try not to worry too much about the weight gain. It is normal and good to gain some weight during pregnancy and it will come off. I can't wait to see the little princess ... and hear your stories.

Chris this weight gain is normal and you will lose the weight once your baby is born. I understand the feeling though. I hope labor will be "on time" and no induction necessary!

I definitely had a water weight gain at the end. I think it's one of the signs of impending labor. (Which doesn't mean right away, but some time soon...). I hope you go into labor soon and don't have to be induced. It's not fun, from what I hear. Keep walking and drinking water and sleep while you can!
