BuffyBear's Journal, 30 May 2015

I am blessed to have found an eating plan that works for me. My experiment of not adhering to this plan on weekends has proved disastrous. Why I ever thought I could "take the weekends off" is beyond me.

Yes, my weekends are full of "events" but none of these involve me being restrained and force fed against my will. So, having made this mental adjustment, I am going to share a quote that will set the tone for this weekend:

“There's no reason to have a plan B because it distracts from plan A.”
― Will Smith

Weekends are always so hard to find a good happy medium of living and keeping on track. In the past I found it was always about making better choices. ...that worked better for me than denying myself everything.

I also like the quote. LadyDiane, welcome. It's a good place to be. Work whatever plan works for you. Just make it part of your life. I too still don't buy things that will sabotage myself. If I buy ice cream I will eat it all, not just a bit here and there. So a cone somewhere else of if the grandkids are here, I will have a bowl, they devour the rest. Being active teens some ice cream doesn't hurt them now and then.

Tracy - That is the difference between us. It is much easier for me to turn down a nice warm, fresh from the oven, chocolate chip cookie than to eat just one. Some can and some cannot. I cannot.

Wholefoodnut - I could polish off a half gallon of ice cream too!

LOL!!! Ice cream is my downfall!! Cake, chips you can toss them in the trash, I don't care. I can eat one cookie as they are awfully sweet to me anymore or not eat them, it doesn't matter. Something about ice cream though.

People don't understand that inability to eat a single one of anything and stop. I am one of those all or nothing folk. One cookie is ten and then the diet is blown and I have lost a week or a month. It is easier to pretend that first cookie doesn't exist than to ignore the next. They call to each other...join me join me join me and I am the helpless conduit between them.

Buffy, It took me over 2 years to lose that 60 pounds. I still track much of the time, if not on here it's in my head. Have to think about it daily, that's why that cane is on my shower rod. Look at those dark chocolate covered cranberries or the trail mixes in the bulk food bin decide no do not buy them you will eat the bag before you get home, I did that Saturday.
