Good Morning All!

Was musing about the different WOE's we have and found that a lot of us on different plans are really eating similarly. Labels can be misleading. For example, a Paleo meal may be identical to an Atkins meal.

I have never considered a ketogenic diet (feeling it too extreme). Yet when I entered my info into an online Keto Calculator, the resulting guidelines are the same as "My Plan" (when I have my best results). Here are those numbers:

Calories 1348
Carbohydrates 11% (approx. 40 grams)
Protein 26% (approx. 90 grams)
Fat 61%

Diet Calendar Entry for 14 May 2015:
1292 kcal Fat: 75.91g | Prot: 92.18g | Carb: 52.00g.   Breakfast: Coffee, Atkins Frozen Farmhouse-Style Sausage Scramble, Coffee, Great Value Half & Half. Lunch: Atkins Frozen Mexican-Style Chicken and Vegetables. Dinner: Cub Foods Ground Beef (93% Lean / 7% Fat), Wegmans Black Beans Canned, Great Value All Natural Sour Cream, Salsa, Old El Paso Taco Seasoning Mix, Lettuce Salad with Assorted Vegetables, Tomatoes, Lindsay Large Black Olives. Snacks/Other: Coffee, Land O'Lakes Traditional Half & Half. more...

You are so right about this... many of us are on different plans yet we eat very similar. We may just have different macros. On my low carb non training days I eat around 50-60g carbs and on my training days I eat higher carb about 150g and my fat stays around 50g that day. Yet I eat wholesome foods I notice others eat on here..

I spent most of yesterday doing the same thing...looking at the variations of LC and found some interesting sites on the Web. It appears that most of us are following the same guidelines with different twists... I think one of the more enjoyable aspects of FS is that we do get to see the variety and can learn ways to tweak our own programs when we seem to be stalled or not progressing as we should. It appears every LC program has moments of stalls and small losses....so there is no perfect way to lose lots of fast weight. Getting to know our own bodies and accepting it for its challenges seems to be the most important aspect to losing unwanted weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Ladyinthewoods - it is an unknown "terrier mix", because he was born in the shelter. We refer to him as a Jack Daniels Terrier.

Gwen - How true! You have no idea how many times I've "tweaked" over the years. And I am sure this is not the last time.

Panigale - You are wise to have found something that works, and extra wise to be leaning towards wholesome foods. Your body will thank you when you get to be my age.

My total carbs are usually higher more a moderate carb due to eating a lot of whole grains and legumes. Around 40gfat (mostly olive oil some butter), 40g protein (fs does not calculate complementary proteins) and 140g carbs.

Samijopez - Yes, we are all just "Works In Progress".

Yes! You are doing well - the less carbs, the less sugar available for energy so the body has to burn the fat and the fat stores. And, eating fat satiates the appetite better so I eat less overall.

HCB - You are a great example of how eating fat can make us "fat free". Congratulations again on your results.

Buffy- Thanks! But you are also an inspiration! You are successful and I hope I can still be as diligent as you are when I am your age :) Hopefully fatsecret will still be around too! Such an amazing tool with a supportive community!

Panigale - I'd like to think that by the time you reach my age, there would no longer be a need for FS (I can dream, can't I?).

Hehe good point...hopefully everyone will reach their goals and maintain that lifestyle and not need fatsecret...

Until the food industry changes, there will always be a fatsecret. Sad but true.

Nicholaix - Yes, very sad. And what is even sadder is that my grandchildren's generation seems clueless about "real food".
