Sandy701's Journal, 10 May 2015

It's been an interesting weekend. DH and I thought the house was extra warm yesterday and it turns out our AC system is on its very last leg. The tech got it working (necessary when your high temps are approaching 90 for the next few days) but warned us it might last only overnight or maybe a day or two more. The system is about 17 or 18 years old, so this isn't totally unexpected, having already had repairs completed in the handful of years we've lived here. Still, it's a major expense to get it all replaced, on top of paying taxes last month.

But it could be worse. At least we have AC - for now - and they will probably get the replacement installation scheduled for mid-week.

Our puppy had an excellent day in training class on Saturday. The owner of the training facility held the class rather than our usual instructor. She's a fountain of knowledge and got us to do a few exercises I didn't think Little Guy could do - but he DID!!! He loves the playtime in this class, as well, when he gets to romp with the other students. While all the other pups are adolescents, just like him, they're varying sizes, from a Greater Swissie to a Bichon, so this is excellent exposure and socialization for him.

My own food and exercise have been OK for the weekend, even with having to postpone dinner last night due to the AC technician working late on our system.

Happy to hear that Little Guy did well at school. Socialization is an important skill. Sorry to hear about AC but isn't that how like always is....we seem to plan for more than one expense at a time and when it doesn't happen, thank our lucky stars!!!!

Seems like you have had your share of home maintenance issues. Maybe when you get your AC replaced you'll get a break for the rest of the summer. BTW - couldn't help but notice your weight graph is starting to show improvement.

We've had to live without a/c the past few years. This house only has window units which is ok but we can't afford the electricity. It's not so bad except at night and when the humidity is up.

Gwen, part of the reason for taking classes at this facility was the expertise of the owner (of the facility, not me) and the playtime included in all the younger-age classes. We love it - he snoozes the rest of the day!

Thanks Buffy. We both know too well the struggle this is, but if we can once get it going in the right direction, it DOES get easier (I hope).

Msbuggirl...have you tried sleeping with wet washcloths on your forehead? Might sound strange, but we had to do that at a place after their AC went out on a record-heat day. It did the trick and we got a good night's rest!
