NO NEWS ON FS IN NEVER GOOD NEWS!!!

Been MIA on the scene here and at the gym; food has hit the bad spots, and Chinese kick took over for days in a row! The good news is, work was very productive...I managed to get 3 journal articles written up and sent out for publication!! And now onto three other major deadlines, including a huge NIH grant to write and my heavyduty 6-year long dossier to prepare for tenure at my university! Stress level constantly goes up and down, and I find my "cigarette-writing" syndrome is back, i.e., what I used to say in my smoking days that I need a cigarette to help me think and write...now I say, i need to munch on something (read, goldfish crackers!) to help me think and write!

Well, as of today, I want to be very strict. Enough BS. I want to go back to where I was two weeks ago when I was working out religiously and making some disciplined dietary sacrifices, and not this new laissez-faire thing i got going here!

UPDATE: MORAL OF THE STORY
11 days away from the gym= 6 pounds gained, running time dropped down to only 3 mins at a time, loss of muscle tone, tired easily and bored of staying longer than an hour at the gym!!!!
This 11 day hiatus is proving to be an expensive break!! It has set me back much more, and now I have to start working my way, crawling my way, back up again...

Overall, good start to the 10-day program today.
Food: Under 20 carbs. Check.
Workout: 1) running. three run intervals, total only 8 mins of running, and 14 mins of walkign. 2) Bike 20 mins. cardio= check/b]
Weights: 4 sets of bicep curls and 1 set of triceps. not a lot, but it's a start. so, check.
Work: Finished writing one article. so, yes, [b]check.

well i don't know if I should be celebrating here, consoling you, scolding you, or ignoring you! LOL you sure have experienced several peaks and LOW VALLEYS! the good news is that you've completed ONE day of being good! Now, no more gold fish crackers buddy! I promise you won't find a single one here in Cali! they shipped them all to YOU in your town, and you ATE THEM! so, now that you know there are no more...you will be able to go back to being a vegetarian who didn't wish to consume all the poor little gold fishes in the world!! LOL

Throw those goldfish out! Let them swim into someone else's mouth! Say 'bye-bye'. No more trigger food in the home, got it? Good job getting back into the gym. You will do it! Have faith!

BA is funny AND crazy! Julie's right though, stop buying these snack foods that aren't good for you. I had a poker game at my house Saturday and my friend and brother were complaining that I didn't have any "good" snacks....well, we went out dinner before hand and the biggest complainer stuffed himself so I didn't worry about going to the grocery and grabbing something like I usually would....MY POINT IS...I don't keep any chips, cookies (except for the low fat nilla wafers, he he), nuts....you get the picture...right? Don't buy stuff that you can't control yourself around!!!!

You know some of that gain is from the high-sodium chinese food and high sodium goldfish! Oh, and you know what else is in goldfish? Whale snot! Or is it snot. Hmmm, it comes from Sperm Whales, so it really could be... oh, never mind. Maybe you need to hire a body guard who will guard your body by not letting you buy JUNK FOOD! You are a high quality person, so you should only be eating high quality food! NO MORE JUNK!

It is hard to stop when you think you need something and we all know that goldfish crackers are not a good snack. If you really feel you need them why not buy the 100 calorie packs and eat them one at a time very slowly while you are writing...make them last and at least then you know you have only consumed 100 calories. Not the best answer but a compromise and maybe you won't feel like you are being so denied. You can do this. Sometimes its just so hard. I am routing for you and great job on the writing.

You know you can get PREGNANT eating goldfish w/sperm whale snot?!? It's true! So stay away from them unless you want a colicky baby ruining your tenure plans!

YOU GUYS ARE SO DANG HILARIOUS TODAY!!!!! I was totally LMAO!!! I LOVE the crazy things Amryk comes up with! Whale sperm and snot!! hilarious and brilliant!! I still remember the gross vending machine thing you'd said!! And Jule, a colicky baby from a goldfish? with a blow hole? Guess I beat hootie, eh?! ;) BA, you coulda done better--these guys beat you on the no. 1 funny spot (yes, I AM rating the funnies !;)) And Kim, thanks for calling me smart..I got ya fooled, eh? ;) But, to answer your q., yes, those articles are REQUIRED for my upcoming tenure and promotion at my university..it's crunch time and I'm making my final push of things i can churn out..wish me luck you guys! If all goes well, this year would be my biggest year of accomplishments (including weight loss!)..or else, this year could be my biggest set-back and hell!!

p.s: Chattycathy, yeah, the little baggies are a great idea...for when I'm ready to go back to swimming in the goldfish pool...for now though, COLD TURKEY to the FISH!!! It's quite a zoo, huh?! ;)
