Deb_N's Journal, 29 March 2015

Hi, everyone! Hope you are well. I mentioned on a buddy's journal that in the summer I am going on vacation, and we will have restaurant meals. I'm sure I can choose good foods for lunch and dinner, but what to do about breakfast? I usually eat a bowl of oatmeal with add ins, like 1 Tablespoon unsalted sunflower kernels, 1 Tablespoon wheat germ, 1 Tablespoon ground flax seed, and 1 Tablespoon unsalted peanuts. I don't want to take oatmeal and add ins in my luggage, so what could I eat for breakfast instead of oatmeal? Any suggestions?

Lots of restaurants and those hotel breakfast bars have healthy choices for breakfast. Even eggs and grits in the south would be eggs and a grain, not bad even though the grits are probably more processed than the ones you might do at home. No idea where you are going.

I just buy the "cup oatmeal" from Quaker if I'm going on vacay..You can eat the oatmeal before you guys get breakfast from the restraunt that way you dont get too tempted.. you can always just drink some coffee while there or get one of their little fruit cups or something small like that.

Just a thought... Can you put your Oatmeal ingredients into a ziploc bag and carry the needed number of servings with you on your trip. I have literally taken a blender with me on vacation so I could make my shakes... Anyway have a great time and don't worry! Just being mindful tends to help considerably when you are changing up your routine temporarily...

The "oatmeal in a cup" is a great idea. It is ready to go when you just add hot water. Many restaurants may serve oatmeal - or maybe not in summer. But cereal is generally an option.
