Clothes...
For the past 20 years or so, I've had to buy my clothes in the U.S. and lug them back home with me to Japan. Japan is not a shopping friendly place for people who need large sizes.
Since I've been through the weight loss process before, I've got boxes of pants ranging from the 48-inch waist I was wearing before I began six weeks ago all the way down to 40-inch waist. Well, as I am transitioning down into 42-inch pants, I decided to drop by the local Gap the other day to see how far I am from being able to buy my clothes here. It wasn't a pleasant visit. The largest size men's pants they have are 34-inch waist. I don't think I've worn 34-inch since early high school. Even back in the days when I weighed 165 lbs, I think I wore 36-inches.
But there is a happy ending. Today the parking structure was really crowded and I had to park up on the 4th floor. Entering the store on the 4th floor brought me past an Eddie Bauer shop. I had never set foot in the place, but just out of curiosity, I walked over and had a look at the men's pants. The pants are all sized in inches and every color and style goes up to a 40-inch waist. I'm just over 2-inches away from being able to buy my pants without an overseas trip. I figure that's probably another 10 pounds from where I am right now. Leaving only one problem -- the price. They are at least double what I usually pay for pants in the U.S.

I finished my transition from 1200 to 1900 calories a day as of yesterday. So now the plan goes 400 calories for breakfast, 400 calories for lunch, 500 calories for dinner and three 200-calorie snacks between meals. It's really nice to be able to eat something other than drinks, bars and fruit before the evening meal, although it means planning out what I'm going to eat. The thing I liked so much at the beginning was not having to think about what to eat for breakfast and lunch. No choice meant no bad choices. But on the other hand, I'm really enjoying my half bagel for breakfast.

It must feel great to be eating solid food for breakfast and lunch! I hope your plan works well for you. Even if you have to pay double the price for pants in Japan it's still not as expensive as flying to the US to shop, is it?
