Don't judge... I have my excuses ;)

I had a decent lunch planned, but didn't get a chance to eat it before meeting the girls for coffee. Lunch became an Iced Caramel Macchiato :O It was a free drink, so I had to make the most of it. LOL I haven't had coffee for about 2 weeks, so I definitely enjoyed every sip :D

Weigh-in is tomorrow, so I might be disappointed with the results. Back on track tomorrow :D

B: omelet
L: Iced Caramel Macchiato
D: Bacon! & Rainbow Swiss chard

TOOOOO MUCH FAT!
14 Mar 15 by member: GO-YA
Go-YA - she is doing a ketogenic program - that is the point of eating the fat!

Hey, it could have been a lot worse. We've all had that one drink or treat that then turned into a meal, two meals, a day, a weekend...you get the point. That didn't happen here, and that's great. IMO this is a win. Sure, it's not on plan, but you're macros aren't that out of whack and it didn't cascade into something else. You did good.

It's not really that bad LP. I agree with Maelyn!

HCB. In my opinion that is an unhealthy long-term approach.
14 Mar 15 by member: GO-YA
There are lots of studies that show a LCHF lifestyle is not unhealthy, but there are more and more studies showing that low-fat may be harmful, specifically scientists are starting to think there may be a link between low-fat craze and the link of Alzheimer's starting to sweep across the United States. More specifically also in a recent study done found, once again, that a low-carb lifestyle helped to reduce cardiovascular risk factors (http://annals.org/article.aspx?articleid=1900694 AND http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa022637 AND http://archinte.jamanetwork.com/article.aspx?articleid=217514 AND there's more out there if you want go looking)

Oh, and the reason that they are thinking there is a link to Alzheimer's is because the brain is primarily made up of fat and feeds off of fat.

Go-YA - not to argue but it is HER approach and you can have an opinion but should not admonish her like she is doing something you disapprove of - not your place to judge.

Maelynpeacock is absolutely correct! Or reag "Grain Brain" by Dr, David Perlmutter.

Maelynpeacock. Where do you get your information from.

HCB What is your problem? Stop putting words in my mouth. Everyone including me is here to get and give advise. Of course it is HER approach. I think it is healthy and knowledgable to listen to ALL opinions and from YOUR own. I am not or would I admonish anyone!

I just cited several actual, studies that were done. The annals of Internal Medicine, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Diabetic Medicine 2007, Nutrition & Metabolism (London) 2008, etc. I'm sorry that Fat Secret didn't leave the entire link for you to copy and view the full abstract yourself, and I'm not going to clog up the comments with every abstract either. The nutshell of the majority of research is that low-carb, and in particular keto, leads to lower A1C (a test that checks for average blood sugar over a 3-6 month period used to diagnosis diabetes), lowers LDL, triglycerides, increases HDL, whereas low-fat seems to raise triglycerides, small, dense, LDL, and decrease HDL, and no difference with A1C.

Excuse me. GO-YA, I did not put the words in your mouth - I have a problem with you posting "GO-YA TOOOOO MUCH FAT!" - that appears negative to me. And do not come across with attitude "GO-YA HCB What is your problem?" toward me. That is not how this site works.
