Nearly broke into my husband's sharp cheddar cheese this morning, but glad I resisted. I used to have an over the top cheese habit that I don't need back in my life. Plus, I seem to feel better having cut out most dairy. I still drink the whey from my husband's yogurt making, and I'll eat cheese at someone's house or if menu options are limited, but that's about it. I've basically reached the "I give up" stage of this head cold. The attitude kicks in about 3 or 4 days in, and I'm on day 4. It's a good thing I don't get these often -- I'm a real wimp about colds 😉

Excellent power resistance move. Your arteries will thank you. Only 3 more days left on that cold -- hang in there!

Great job resisting! I wish I did last night when I made comfort food for dinner! 🤣😅 You’re an inspiration! 😘 I love your honesty, especially with the attitude part! I definitely feel that right now! ♥️🥰♥️

Thanks, annamommy 😊❤ You know, I thought it would be really tough to cut cheese out, but it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Plus I've got some good recipes for vegan cheese substitutes. If I felt better, I might whip up one of those, but right now, cooking feels overwhelming

Thanks, JustBananas. 😃 I actually have my biannual blood draw scheduled for Tuesday, and I'll be curious to see how it turns out. I was supposed to go Wednesday, but rescheduled as I didn't want to expose others to this cold

You certainly don't want to eat cheese or dairy with a head cold.

I've heard that before, Morticia, but hadn't thought about it lately. 😊 Supposed to stuff you up more, right? I think it was the salt I was craving, more than anything. And just the ease of throwing a slab of it on toast. Easy isn't always the best option, although honestly, it was just as easy to slap miso and peanut butter on toast, which was what I ended up doing

I had my latest draw a couple of weeks ago, posted my results. Not as good as yours, but lowered considerably now that my saturated fat is only about 6 grams/day. Giving up cheese worked. Miso will definitely clear the sinuses! 😮😤

So am I when it becomes days! I don’t buy dairy for home and make it a once in awhile thing as I love cheese and have cheese shops everywhere around me!:) My fave is blueberry white cheddar!:)😋 Good job not breaking into the cheddar!👍

6 grams is pretty impressive, JustBananas. I think mine usually runs between 11-14. I think my cholesterol is genetic, to a great extent. It was low even when I was eating frozen pizzas and French fries and weighed 200 pounds. It's only come up a bit in the last few years, and I'm not sure if that's age, menopause, or the medication I take. You really should be commended for what you've done diet-wise to bring your lipids down

Wifeski -- there's something to be said for keeping some foods out of your house, but not eliminating them completely. You can still enjoy the wonderful cheeses, but having to put on your coat and grab your keys and leave the house for them puts up enough of a hurdle that you'll do it mindfully and only on occasion. Does that make sense? It's like if you buy ice cream at the grocery, you'll eat it every night, but if you only eat it at the ice cream shop, it might be once a week. I'm a firm believer in not bringing things into the house that don't support what you're trying to do, nutritionally

Thanks, Wyo! The sat fat is mostly from concerted effort in reducing oils, as I used to drizzle it over pasta and be a bit more heavy-handed with it in dressings. I'm using more vegetable broths now instead. Please post your Lipid results anyway, regardless if you got them from WFPB diet or genetics. More FS dieters should share how they lowered their risk, as this is more important than vanity (though that's nice, too!).

Yes, I totally get it and agree. It is a great method to have to go get something rather than have it conveniently in the house!:)

Will do, JB 😊 I'm mostly past vanity at this point -- just want to string as many healthy years as possible
