A few days ago I hurt my shoulder, I didn't realize it until the next day. Seriously didn't hurt at all that night after my workout, but the next morning YEEEEEEEEEEEEOWTCH! It hurts to lift my arm above my chest, hurts to push, hurts to pull...it feels like it's a really deep pain too. So, normally I would just take a few days and wait for it to stop hurting, but it's been a few days and if anything, it hurts more. I was literally in tears last night as I was trying to fall asleep, so uncomfortable!!! Now, I just went to the doctor for all this heart stuff and frankly, don't have the money to spend on more tests. Does this sound familiar to anyone who has had shoulder issues before?? If it's more serious than some strain, I don't really want to wait it out.....

I had a torn rotator cuff a few years ago aa result of a fall, but I knew it right away, no delayed pain. Sorry I can't really be of help, but I hope it gets better quickly...maybe someone else has some ideas.

I had a torn labrum that sounds much like what you described. The only thing that brought ANY relief was a cortisone shot (but those are painful themselves, and actually make the pain worse for a day or so after you get it). After months of PT, the pain was just "bearable" and the only other option was surgery, which I'm not a fan of, so I'm just sucking it up until it's no longer bearable. Hope yours isn't that serious, but you should get it checked out.

I have had shoulder issues since HS football. If it lasts more than 10 days or so go get it checked out. I regret not doing physical therapy so many years ago because it takes very little for it to come back and flare up. I slipped and fell on the ice last Monday and landed on my "bad" arm and was in agony for three days. It's better now but a improperly healed shoulder could last a lifetime because of the nature of how the joint moves. Just my two cents. Good luck and feel better!

Worst I had was when I fell hard snowboarding on my right arm. After that I had some pain and popping in my shoulder. I think I tore my rotator cuff but it seemed to have healed now...I had to stop doing any over head lifting of weights. and I left my arm alone for a month. So I say take it easy. You can do easy low impact cardio but try to avoid any lifting

Strained ligament, Rotator Cuff? Have you tried ice or heat?

I am a big proponent of not letting things fester. If it hurts so bad that you're in tears, you should at least get it looked at before any self-diagnosing begins. Opt for physical therapy for a few weeks to see if you can work it out. If not, then it's time to consider other options. Waiting on a more serious issue can result in major problems further down the road.

This same type of thing happened to me a few months ago. I couldn't throw a ball, couldn't lift my arm very high without significant pain. Sleeping was painful and uncomfortable for a couple of weeks. I had people tell me that I should get a cortisone shot or that I would need surgery or that I am just getting old and would have to manage the pain. I didn't want to believe any of it, so I just rested it, and rested it, and rested it. I would occasionally try raising it a little in to the pain zone or stretching it out a little. As time went by the pain slowly started to go away. After a couple of months, I got full range of motion back and the pain went away. I didn't need surgery or cortisone, which I am so grateful for because I don't like relying on drugs and synthesized medicines for healing. Everyone's body's are different and the extent of injury can vary significantly, but for me, lots of rest helped. I did gain some weight during that time because most exercise hurt so I just didn't do it, and when I'm not exercising, I am not very good on my diet. So if you go the route I did with resting your arm A LOT, you may want to watch your food intake if you don't want to put on some pounds. Good luck and keep hope alive!

Thanks for the advice guys...RF, I tried heat last night but it didn't do anything...it's a deep hurt, if I hold onto the ball of my shoulder and push in any direction, it hurts like under the ball....I'm worried I hurt my joint (I have horrible joints, both knees and this is my "bad arm"/serving arm from volleyball)....all I was doing were pushups!!!
