lettygaylor's Journal, 21 February 2015

About a year ago I was 280 pounds sitting on my couch eating whole bags of Doritos washing it down with cokes. And hating myself for doing so. It's amazing to me what difference a year can make.

Sitting and eating too much. I've been there and done that. Now you are active and watching your foods and your weight history is in the green zone. Look at you! So proud of you!

I tell everyone, this journey is 100% possible. If I can to it, then so can you! You just have to decide. One day I was just tired of feeling awful about myself. Tired of being crushed by the weight I was carrying around. Tired of being tired all the time, and that was doing nothing. I have lost 111.6 pounds and I still have a 18.4 more to go. And like I said, my hope is to show that if I can do this then so can anyone! All it takes is one day to know that you are enough. Save your life because no one else can do it for you.

Letty, you have come so far!! I can a see a totally different outlook in you as you no longer hate what you are doing to yourself. So much more positive and you seem happier with yourself.

I think your last comment to be quite inspirational.

Changing my mindset was the hardest thing to do. Every once in a while I still think that I'm that 280 pound woman. But I have way more good days than those kinda days. I am truly happy with my life.

Congrats!!

Congrats! I took me four years to get 80 pounds off and still have 40 pounds to go. Have you hit any plateaus or resistance? I am stuck and my body doesn't want to drop the weight.

Ha! I had the inverse. After being skinny all my life it took me a few years to realize how fat I am!

shelleyolson, I have not hit a plateau. But I do lots of different exercises. I was told that if I do hit one to change up the workouts. Try something different. Add weights or go up to a little bit heavier weights. Your body gets used to doing the same stuff over and over again and I think that's when you hit a plateau. In August I did PiYo, which is pilates and yoga combined. I did that for 8 weeks. Then after that I did T25 for 5 weeks. Then P90 for 60 days. I walk on the treadmill almost every day, but there are different workouts programmed into the treadmill and I rotate through those doing different incline levels and speeds. I also do weight training. One day lower, one day upper and one day core. Then one day everything. And a rest day. Listen to your body, it will tell you when you are ready for something new. Don't just do cardio or weight training you need to try to do both.
