BuffyBear's Journal, 21 January 2015

While cruising online yesterday I stumbled upon the New Atkins-40. At least at first glance it looks very doable. Has anyone here tried it?

I just looked at the diet, Buff, and it sounds like a more sustainable diet to follow. It does allow for whole grains and beans. It sounds very similar to what I am doing (but not). Mine is more of a low fat diet for 4 days and then add the good fats back in the last 3 days of the week. I like the sound of the Atkins 40. I am finding a lot of products like organic rice pasta that don't raise my blood sugar. My DH doesn't know the difference and he eats every bite. He hates whole wheat pasta. There are organic rice crackers too. I didn't look at the actual food list. I am assuming those are legal.

Mom- Love that you and your Hubby are finally eating together. One of my problems is that I've got 3 fussy Grandchildren to feed now - but their Mom's night classes will be over Feb 10th so I can go back to just cooking one meal.

Look at feeding the little tykes as a challenge and not a problem. LOL! Hubby still has his own snacks and foods he likes that I don't eat. I just have built up a wall between his stuff and my stuff mentally. I read something the other day that has kept me on this diet (for the most part). A lot of people say they CAN'T stick to or WON'T stick a diet because .... and then give their reasons why. The REAL reason goes deeper. They should say they WON'T stick to the diet or start one because .... the husband complains, or weekends, or friends shove food at them all day and they CAN'T say no. We just have to honest why we haven't gone the whole 9 yards. Once those obstacles are resolved, then you CAN start the diet and you WILL be successful. Hope that made sense. :)

Mom- so right. I am responsible for what goes into my mouth. End of story.

Buffy I meant that what the lady in the article said helped me keep my head in the game a little better. I wasn't saying it to be critical of any one. Lord knows, I am struggling constantly to stay on the 28 plan that I am on. It has come close several times for me to say, "hell with it, I am going to eat that stuffed salmon and enjoy a glass of wine with it." Then I thought, I am in this for 28 days. I am a real weanie if I can't stick to one thing for 28 days. LOL! So, we all do what we can do and when we can do it. Just ease into your diet plan of choice -and when you are ready, you are ready. That is all I meant.

Buffy, I was reading about the new atkins update sounded interesting. Also I guess the plan is all free on the website instead of having to buy the book.

I haven't done Atkins in a long time, but from what I've heard of their new guidelines there are more carbs allowed which might make it easier to do long term. I always lost weight easily on the old Atkins but just couldn't sustain doing it over the long run and would gain it back. Wishing you great success if you decide to try it.

jmb3450 - Agree with you. Easier to sustain and healthier too. Of course that doesn't mean I still won't gain it back - LOL

Buffy, I read that an interview with someone from the family said they decided to publish the update for free so it would spur people to buy more of their products. Hope if you decide to go on that it works for you.
