I have been reading posts on here and they are interesting but also a tad bizarre

On a golf forum, i would tend to listen to professionals and very good players v beginners

on a diet forum the same applies, if someone has lost lots of weight and (KEPT IT OFF) sure listen..

What i do not understand (and i am deliberately not posting on the thread so no offense is taken) is when someone who was 145kg and came down to 90kg and is now up to 135kg is posting ADVICE on how to eat healthily (Very obviously they cannot do it themeselves)

The bizarre part is the value their advice is given! Think about this.. a person wtih a seriously dysfunctional relationship with food is giving you advice on how to eat healthily. I cannot read this without posting as it is too weird.

Anyway..... I shall not be weighing myself each day, I have stopped buying chocolate bars when at the supermarket, I am walking a bit more each day... counting calories.. Just cannot do it.... More exercise cures all...

178.6 lb Lost so far: 2.2 lb.    Still to go: 6.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Learning to maintain a goal weight for the long term is ver difficult. It happens to the best of us. Many times people get to goal and something may happen in their life which causes extreme stress. They may not be as viligant about what they are eating and end up gaining weight. Age causes weight to creep up and many other factors. You can have someone lose weight, keep it off for 20 years and then they gain some back. They know how to eat healthy, but actually doing it sometimes can be a problem when you have so much going on in your life. We are all differnet and on our own journeys. We all have to do what works for us and that may change constantly based on what life throws at us. You can still offer good advice whether you kept the weight off or not. Weight loss is a never ending tough battle. But food for you for taking the steps to be healthy.

I think that you can know all about eating healthy and still be fat because you do not have the willpower and discipline to take it off and keep it off. (I am not talking about the people who suffer from an illness off course) That doesn't mean that they can't help other people achieve their goals. The community here did help me lose weight with their tips and knowledge on my second try since when I first joined here with a different account I did lose the weight my way and gained it all back because I was stubborn and didn't want to listen to good advice.

I concur with Snezica--All exercise doesnt cure everything if yo exercise and burn 350 calories that doesnt mean you can eat an extra 350 calories that defeats the purpose. My opinion is it is 80% mental and 20% physical if you can get over all of the mental BS the rest is cake. :)

Exercise cures all was a little tongue in cheek and calories are only one of many measurements of health (after all weight is only one element of being healthy) Exercise for me means I do not worry about weight loss as the exercise I do is sufficient to maintain my weight. No one has a truly static weight, most peoples weight varies in a day but 1 or 2kg and over time adding 100g here and there can cause a creep (This is me) i put on a few kgs over a year then need to focus on NOT EATING BAD STUFF OFTEN, and doing exercise more consistently, then back to fine. It is important i guess when you are at your ideal weight to not think THATS IT.. I WON.. you should get to that weight by embracing a lifestyle eating, sleeping, exercise that you can maintain all your life... Yes MENTALITY is huge too.. I will give you an example of this A friend of my parents could never walk up the mountain with us on Family holidays (She was relatively young around 45 and not overweight) her husband a P.E teacher used to badger her up the mountain, year after year this happened and we all made it to the top (Cairngorms in Scotland) around 3500feet high.. After maybe 6 or 7 years of this, she was diagnosed with MS and the advice was that she had had this for many years which is why she struggled.. BUT SHE ALWAYS MADE IT UP THE MOUNTAIN.. 6 MONTHS after being diagnosed we were all on holiday again and at a beach, she did not have the energy to walk on flat sand, I had to carry her down the beach. This is a true and significant story from my life, it proves that your MIND controls your body, as soon as she KNEW she had MS her MIND quit and her body RAPIDLY quit, she was in a wheelchair after 7 months.. Do not listen to your brain saying CANT, SAY YOU CAN and guess what , YOU CAN!
