Fitness assessment done at the gym today...good to have the numbers on flexibility, resting heart rate, BMI, body fat etc. Things to work on now! My first personal training session began today with this. He'll be giving me a plan on Tuesday--a menu of things to do. For today he showed me how to work on all the weight machines, so tomorrow I'll do 3 reps on each, no matter how long it takes. And do the cardio sculpt and abs classes.

I did really well today. I almost didnt want to run today after my 1.5 hours of personal trainer session (not workout, only assessment), but pushed myself, and did better than usual! Did my 1st mile in 13.09 mins, with 11.09 of those mins on continuous running at 4.8 mph! I did another few mins of running at 4.8-6.5 mins at various junctures, adding up to 17.20 mins of running in the 30 min. period.

I have done very well on food as well. I went out to a winetasting/happy hour tonight and refrained from eating OR drinking! I told everyone I was training for running and won't be drinking for a while...I did get lots of "devil's advocate" and persuasive arguments, but I stayed put and only had ice tea!

I have been drinking a lot of water (almost 4L and yet keep feeling thirsty! Dunno what this is about!).

Meals today:
Brunch: scrambled eggs :7 pts, 9 carbs
almonds 2 pts, 2 c
walnuts 1 pt, 1 c
soy milk 1 pt, 2 c
protein mix 1.5 pt, 1.5 c
1 l.c. cheese 1 pt, 1 c
stir fry veggies with mock duck 7 pts, 9 c (OOPS!! forgot to look at portion size!)
grapes : 1 pt, carbs not counted

Total: 21.5 pts, 25.5 c

BIG THING TO CELEBRATE: TOday marks 8 days of continuous running daily!! Typically, I'd have quit by day 3..so this is definitely a step, nay, SPRINT, in the right direction!!! My theory is that, my new health regimen is like the perpetual start-and-stop with smoking and then the final quitting. In other words, if I stay long to the point that I really get entrenched in all this stuff (in 30 days or so), I'll BE a different person..and then won't recognize--or subscribe--to this old unhealthy way of being!

Girl, after 2 weeks a practice becomes a -habit-. Keep workin' towards your goal!! You're running is an inspiration to those of us who cannot yet run (especially those who have run in the past & miss it)... :)

Oooh, I really like the analogy of the smoking and weight loss. I smoked for about 2 years and quit about 8 years ago? I recently said to someone, you try a few times and then it sticks! How funny, that you're saying the same thing and it definitely applies to weight loss as well! I just know you're going to do this, having a personal trainer is going to get you going...you're going to make your goal!!!!
