Thanks for all the birthday wishes! My day yesterday went really well. Today...WHO WANTS LEFTOVERS??? I'd post a picture of the food I made, but I can't figure out how to do it, and I'm working on 3 hours of sleep and am under attack from histamines here (if anyone wants to explain it to me I have a picture). I made 2 HUGE (10x14) pot pies with potatoes, corn, peas, carrots, onions, and tofu. I ended up topping them with refrigerated crescent rolls. The sauce was made from veggie broth, soy sauce, amino acids, garlic powder, and salt. It was really good! I made a giant crock pot full of lentil sloppy joes, and 2 bags of balsamic brussels sprouts. Well, my Dad the eternal carnivore made spaghetti and meatballs. What do you think the majority of my family ate? Some people didn't even TRY any of the stuff I made. angry. So the sloppy joes are in my freezer, one of my sister took a baggie full home. One of the pot pies is in my fridge and my sister took half of another home. I ended up with about a serving of brussles sprouts, yes my sister took some of those too. mumble grumble mumble... Oh and I made a cake. I gave it away to my nephew who said "that was really good cake" HERE TAKE IT! The recipe was a cake mix and a can of pepsi. Bake. Frost. OMG IT WAS SO SWEET I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE! Last year I probably would have devoured that cake. This year I'm over sugar. I'm proud of myself.

I got presents! I got 4 vegetarian cookbooks, a rice cooker, a 1.5 qt crock pot, one of my sisters gave me a butternut squash, a buttercup squash, and a turban squash. Another sister gave me kale, cucumbers, zucchini, and green beans from her garden. I also got some ink for my printer, and a drill for work (YAY!). Just to be funny I asked for a gold brick. I got a gold brick. My Dad spray painted a brick gold just for me. It's actually really pretty. Smartass. Apple, meet tree.

I'm loving my new water bottle. I'm definitely drinking a lot more (and stopping at every bathroom at every stop). I think there was something else I was going to say, but I can't think right now I'm so tired. Fortunately it is time to go pick up my girlfriend from work so I can go to bed now. If anyone wants leftovers come on by.

They are so good that way too. Slice them, toss in a pan with olive oil, then a little balsamic. I've tossed in some walnuts before too. Delicious!

There were nice looking local Brussels sprouts up at my corner store yesterday. I used to grow them, the plants look really cool. My ex loved them, they are one of the few veggies I don't like, which is weird as I love most cabbage. Good time of year for them as they like the cold. Glad your dinner went well and you received some nice gifts. Love the gold brick!! Too bad people didn't eat more of your food, I be it was relish. I run into that also because I do not cook "standard" Missouri food most of the time.

Wonderful birthday celebration. Their loss for not trying your food. You could heat up the frozen food and serve it again at your next family function! Your food sounds good to me. Good for you giving away the cake. Nice presents. Had to laugh about the brick :) and apple, tree poke. A lot of people need their sense of humor when family comes to visit:)

Yep meat and potatoes and meat. LOVE the idea of reheating it for next week's dinner! I definitely take after my Dad's side of the family.

The funny think is that is pretty much exactly how the conversation went. I think I might have scared my nephew a little bit. lol

Happy late birthday. Sounds like you worked hard on cooking everything you did. You made food that was healthy for you and everyone and they're the ones that have to suffer because of not trying your dishes.
