Happy Friday All, as you probably guessed it, I took yesterday off and did almost nothing. Had to pick some stuff from the garden. With it being Friday, I will go to the gym with hubby when he gets home from work. Guess I will cut the grass, and maybe freeze some corn, and green beans.

You know I have to tell you, I was excited when I had finished up the Edy's ice cream the other night. Thinking good now I can stick to me Blue Bunny. Hubby comes home after his workout, now in his defense I did ask him to stop and pick up some buns for the BBQ. He brings in more Edy's Neopolitian, I looked at him and said WHY?, you know I can't eat that, he replies, you don't have to eat it, I can give it to your mom (while smiling). The first thing that triggers in my mind is, screw the BBQ lets go straight to the ice cream.

Anyway, same struggle different day, but that's okay because I get it now and if I don't do something about it then it is on me. No more complaining about it. Time to put my Big Girl Panties on and s*** or get of the pot.

Have a fantastic, wonderful and blessed day/weekend !!!!

Ice cream is one of my favorite meals too. I have constantly remind myself that every container of ice cream is not the last. And that I don't have to eat it just because it's there. It takes a lot of will (that I'm short on) but my health goals need to be my focus. Have fun finding the balance for you. :)

Husband wanted a cheese steak sub last night on my way home from the doctors office. He smiles knowing I hate going into the shop. Their Italian food is sinful. I thought, I'll do it and will walk out with a salad. And did. Antipasto with blue cheese dressing. Now, that was NSV for me. Do have to wonder if they're trying to sabotage us. In the past he beotched because I was too fat, now he's trying to get me to eat everything. Beware Sherrie.

That's too funny, CR. The husbands and their plans for sabotage. Oh no!

darn husband! i love ice cream too. fortunately we get our own ice cream because we buy pints of ben & jerry's that are for us individually. and we don't like each other's flavors. i can't buy breyer's anymore because i will just eat the whole thing right away, like over the course of 3 days. i have actually had some ben & jerry's recently get frosted over because i forgot about it. it's amazing to me that that's possible. you should try to talk to your husband about not sabotaging you. i think it's important. he should know that you just can't have it in the house. have a stern word.

I recall a time when my husband bought a bag of plain potato chips home. A couple of days later he went to the pantry to have them for a snack...and couldn't find them. He then asked me if I knew where they were...to which I replied, "I did you a favor." Yes, I ate them...he should have known better than to bring such a temptation in the house. Over the years, he's learned. I'll give him credit. He knows now to spoil me with an opportunity to get out for a workout instead of bringing home my favorite treat.

I have a great idea. Tell him to get up off his ass and get his own damned sandwich and see how bad he really wants it. I have a feeling his car will fit in the parking lot and they will take his money like they will take yours. You're his wife, not his waitress or food delivery service. That's what my wife would have said to me, and I respect her for that. I don't respect much of what she said and did during our time together, but that kind of thing I do. Dedication and will power folks. Rewards that undo what you have done are not a good plan. This is like someone who quit smoking rewarding themselves with a cigarette. Blue Bunny may have LESS sugar and carbs than "heavy" ice cream, but it is still sugar and carbs you would be better without. That finish line gets further away every time you move it even if you only move it a foot.

When I first started this, my hubby sort of did the same things but my parents came in town and they kept trying to get me to eat crap and he could see how upset it was making me...thank goodness he wised up (for his own safety lol)

OH NO, hold on a minute Eddie, regardless of what I eat, it is my choice. I am not sure where you were going with the sandwich thing, so I am going to ignore it, but whatever you have gone through in your past, is not going to be the same for others. In my opinion, you may want to back off some, because it feels like you are shoving perfectness down our throats, and I for one do not appreciate it. You have every right to express your thoughts and opinions, but you may want to think before you put it all in someone else's post.

Okay... sandwich comment is obviously directed to me. Tell me. Don't post it on Sherri's journal. I, like Sherrie, wear big girl panties and don't need anyone telling me what I should or shouldn't be doing.

Fully understand your frustration - Edy's is a weakness of mine, especially the French Silk. If I allow myself to open up a carton, it's all over. I try to only do that once a month or so.

Whatever.

Sherrie, you'll get the ice cream demon defeated. Just watching your posts, I can see a change in your mindset. For me, the changes are a two-part activity. One is certainly simply changing what I eat. The bigger one though is the mental process behind why I'm eating what I do and what I can do to change that thought process. In defense of husbands... I think that's a mental thing too. I really don't they set out to sabotage. To some people, it really IS as simple as "you don't have to eat it if you don't want to." My husband has also brought home things that I really didn't want around and will tell me he'll eat it. My job then is to find something else that appeals to me more.

Ah, ice cream. Here in the south... BlueBell is the poison of choice among many and I remember when I fell off the wagon in my 20's it was into a ditch of Tin Roof Sundae. I didn't have Cutty then but I marveled that the person who intro'd me to that devil in disguise was my boss, who'd always complained about my weight then complimented the loss but ... ya know.. thinking back now ... hmmm. LOL. I don't know if others really intend to sabotage us, husbands, friends, etc., or if ... they just aren't as hypersensitive to how we feel about food when 'we' are trying to change our WOE. It takes a while to remember, 'oh yeah, *I* changed, not them...' and stop feeling on the edge of some conspiracy. I remember the first Nov of this time I even suspected Grace. So I'm rambling, sorry Sherri - I just saw this interesting exchange and wanted to add my unsolicited two cents. And ... Kathy, what was it Janet said? 'We are all just waitresses at the banquet of life?' LOL

Ice cream is tough for me too. My hubby came home with 3 half gallons of ice cream yesterday. Ugh! I asked him "Ice cream? You're killing me!!" His reply was "They were on sale for 3 for $10!" He was very excited! My husband and sons are big rugged guys with no weight issues. I can't keep my hubby and my boys from enjoying their ice cream, so I knew I had to have something similar to have instead so I wasn't so tempted, and bought a box of 40 calorie fudge bars today. They're not as good, but they will do!! I guess we just have to learn to resist the temptation. We're not going to be able to keep those temptations out of our sight forever. We can do this Sherrie!!

Oh.. memories.. I remember Cutty sending me for a gallon each Braums vanilla, strawberry and chocolate about 4 months into my weight loss and there I stood, overweight, buying his ice cream because he was bedfast / terminal and I just felt EVERY EYE in the store looking at ME and judging. I felt so conspicuous ... when a few months earlier I would have grabbed a brownie fudge sundae gallon for myself. So as bad as ice cream is... how about that Gelato, hmmm? Now that stuff.. wowza. But only hand dipped. Thank goodness the nearest hand dipping place is a 45 minute drive from me. I'd have to start another petition.

LOL ... climbing the ice cream wall. I know what you mean ... my dad was the GM of an ice cream company that will remain nameless. The quality was amazing - full cream and pure! Ice cream is my Achilles heel ... I understand. Hubby almost never buys ice cream... he knows!
