I know I ate like a maniac over the weekend, but I also did a lot of exercise. I'm flabberghasted by the weight gain. I expected to gain a couple pounds, but over 5 pounds?! That is crazy. It is proof that it takes less to gain, than it takes to loose. I'm back on track today, and looks like I'll need to do 4-5 times what I was doing before to get back on track. Is one weekend of fun worth 5 pounds?! What if I had a week of vacation, or two? I could expect to gain 15 pounds over vacation?! Wow! Considering it takes around 6 months for me to loose 15 pounds, I'm not sure vacation is worth it. Metabolism is a cruel cruel thing.

You have to keep in mind that if you eat poorly, your body will react in water retention - especially if there is a ton of salt present in what you eat. And daily you can fluctuate 2-5 pounds even - so I wouldn't be too worried. I would say the damage is only equal to about 1.5-2lbs from your weekend festivities. Don't get discouraged. Just get back on - and don't worry about overdoing it. It's pointless to "make up" for what you didn't do over the weekend. Keep on though! Drink water today and see if tomorrow morning you don't already loose all that water retention!
